Going to give the GRP 1/5 Wheels a try..

These are some beefy wheels compared to the rear XO stock wheels. Will mount them up over the weekend and see if they are better, worst case they look awesome

Looks awesome! And it should a lot more speed. I'm sure you know this but make sure to balance them that's a lot of rotating mass.
Are those custom hubs, or did you buy them?

Any word on how these tires perform? I am debating making the upgrade... Just emailed Rc Hornet yesterday and they are in process of making more of these hubs for the XO.

Question I have is whether these tires are good for 100mph. The XO1's stock tires were designed for such use. Having said that, I am definitely interested.

Good question I have never got mine above 89, simply don's have a big enough area to run it in, hopefully will make a few faster passes somewhere more open as see how they handle compared to stock.
The tires feel a lot more tacky than the stockers..
You will need to cut the fenders slightly bigger and trim back some the front and rear plastics to allow for more clearance for the bigger wheels.

Thank you, I actually havent had a chance to run them yet. I made a roller for it and found 2 driveshafts were slightly bent so there was some crazy wobble in the front right and left rear tire. New shafts should be here early next week..Just want to make sure everything is 100% before I go tearing up and down the street.

    Thanks Neo,
Here are a some pics of the Roller. .Rollers I got were 15"
The ends are spring loaded but i think they make threaded ones too..
The wood going across just supports the sheet metal but you could use a slightly thicker sheet and not need the wood.

Approximate Measurements, I could have shortened it up a bit length wise but it's..

    L 37 3/4 X W 16 3/4 X D 3 1/2

Center of the roller in line with the axles

Little hole for bolt to pass through, cant see the bolt unless you are eye level with the bottom of the chassis

I used 2 1/2 Washers on each side of the roller so it wouldn't wear the wood too quickly

    r

I used 1/4 X 3" Machine Bolts that go through the front and rear fender with a washer and butterfly nut on the underside. You can easily adjust how much force you want on the rollers>

    Thanks dude
You said you had crazy wobble in two of your wheels make sure that every axle hex insert is torgued up the same.you need a little slop in wheels at high speed you will see they spin true.
over tighen insert you will see wheels wobble more under low and high speed also may damage pin and warp wheel hub hole for pin.. not to mention side load on bearings..
also balance your wheels... see how you go!!

I've received my rc hornet adapters and I used the new Pmt tyres over the weekend.
Gotta say I feel the traxxas lacked grip, and the lack of choice for different tyres was very disappointing.
The PMT tyres have allowed me to have some fun with XO 1

Would those wheels act like a propeller at high speeds? I would think solid disks would be better. You dont see that type of wheel at Bonneville Salt Flats!

Okay I've seen all the photos of the 1/5th wheels on the xo-1 the real question is how is the performance are they better are they worse? Does anyone have any running videos with these larger wheels. We need some info people!!!! If you have made the conversion would love to hear some feedback on how this modifications performs.

    Hey!

I would like to know how in the earth do this behave?

I mean, how are they secured?

Stock 1/8 17mm anything (buggys, truggys, onroads) are secured by a pin and a set screw facing the pin.
    Not going anywhere!

But those are just with a set screw? Man...aren't those just flying around inside the dogbone tip?
Can make a video on the install...rather then just showing pictures of the actual product installed. Or make a pic of what set screw goes inside that set screw hole... i mean is that a long set screw that make 2 things...pin and set screw at the same time? Or what....

Anyway, thanks for showing that to the world! And this will fit any 1/8 buggy, truggy,on road with 17mm anything hex?

Looking sharp. Liking them a lot and hope they work well.

Curious whether either of you are running with a gyro? Seemingly a necessary piece of equipment for a power plant suck like the XO-1. I'm about to pull the trigger on an XO-1, thinking I'll need to pick up a set of new wheels/tires too ..

Assuming you guys went with the new P3 compound?

    http://www.grpgandini.it/index.php?o...emid=6&lang=en

Where are you purchasing from? Right, hope they produce at the higher speeds..

Also, can't seem to find a link for RC Hornet? Had hoped to send them an email regarding adapter availability.

I searched 1/5th grp wheels and tires on eBay.
Brucknerhobbies.com is a main place I see that sells the grp wheels and tires
