Best way to clean up shock oil?

It was only after I had filled my shocks that I realised there was a manufacturing defect on the plate with the holes... So taking them apart made quite a mess and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for cleaning up excess oil from the shock and table?
Why do I have all these leftover parts???
