also found out yesterday after seeing a pic from Peter on the chipped tooth prob
that my diff (rear) is also missing or got a chipped tooth)

strange stuff because i never did here a clicking sound or rattle like most PPL have
did run it last sunday without probs and then did take it apart to clean the Merv from road dust and some sand
also did discover that one of the Knuckles on the rear got starnge movement so decided to take it further apart
    and buy new Alu ones

a pic of the rear diff

just to be sure ordered a new TRX7079 set which is here in The netherlands this week

Before you put them pillow ball cups in your knuckles i recommend putting some PTFT teflon tape on them first.

you mean that white stuff on a roll

can you explain me for what reason this must be on the pillowballs or must it be on the threath that goes into the arm ????

the only logic thing i can think of is put it on the little caps which are holding the pillowballs in the knuckle ??

Yes the plastic cups that came with your knuckles. I stripped one and put that stuff on the rest and it made them fit tighter and made the rest not strip. I dont believe its necessary but i think it helps. Just my opinion! And that stuff is what im talking about.

I thought my clicking was my diffs but it was a poorly mesh spur and pinion. So now I have a couple spare 7079's during around.

@Korn -> thx for the outstanding advice -> YOU ROCK and will do the teflon tape for sure now !

@dwmoss -> strange thing is that mine is not clicking , and did not know untill i did take the merv apart
and cleaned it and reading in another topic about chipped tooth , so inspected mine and did see a chipped tooth on
    my rear diff.
so decided to already get me a spare one today.

    the 7079

also thinking about filling them with oil this time because the diff are out now
did not make up my mind what but read if doing speedruns on 3s that front and rear 20K will do a good job

Lately I have not liked ordering from tower and I'm here in the states. I think they have the lets hold the goods for a day or two before we ship syndrome. I've been more of a ebay fan as of late. Typically they are shipping out the parts really quick and at better prices.

Tower, usually takes a few days to ship my stuff also. However they have great CS so i will continue to buy from them. Amain is great because they ship fast but they are on the other side of the US so it takes me a wile to get stuff from them. TheToyz and ebay has been my favorite lately.

    @korn

message i got from them goes like

    Dear Tower Hobbies Customer,

Thank you for contacting Tower Hobbies.

Certain packages shipped via UPS Mail Innovations/International Post do not require formal documents that include tracking numbers due to size and/or value. However, an airway bill number was assigned to your package that will provide information once the package has entered the customs service in your country: LM075601128US.

This number will more than likely not provide information while the package is in transit.

The estimated delivery time of 7-14 days to international destinations is normally accurate. However, unexpected delays in transit or customs clearance can occur and are beyond our control. For this reason our shipping services require a maximum of 45 days for delivery before a package can be claimed as lost. If your package has not arrived by May 21, 2012, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Mossie do you mean 20k in the diffs? That seems like a tad bit thin. Id run 100k or + in the rear and something between 40-60k up front. All personal preference on your driving style and what you want out of your truck. Get a few different kinds and try them out till you find what you like!

i spoke to him (Bas) this afternoon at the phone and he told me i got all the oil in stock in my shop
and that we talk about it tomorrow!!!

from what i have understood from him that 10.000 must be in the front and that 7000 or even 4.000 will be good for me in the rear.
Because i mostly do hard surface with speed!!!

i agree with you -> when you hear this guy speak you indeed get the feeling that he know much about RC
i did see that he was a RC champ a couple of years ago with off road racing

i will be at Bee racing tomorrow at around !!!! -> 11:30 am
first i am going to the gym at 10:00 for my knee revelidation prog. and from there i drive straight to Bee racing (a 15 mins drive for me)

At Korn i notice that USA and overseas countrys all place a K after the 10 , 20 ect ect

in europe they all do 10.000 = 10k
    20.000 = 20K

i see a see a sheet on internet that hard surface needs 20K front and 20K rear
but when i give Bee Racing a call (a shop nearby Rotterdam)
and they told me all you do with oil in your diff is trying to get a lock
also told this guy that on Traxxas forum USA a lot of guys put 100K in their diffs
but he told me then -> yep but they mostly do offroad and bashing on a surface with more grip

i am gonna get me tomorrow some good advise from him because what peter is saying is indeed true
bass is a contest driver for years and did see he got and won many prices with his skills

Both those guys at Bee know where they are talking about. They have worked for PK for ages before they started Bee Racing.
Besides that they know a lot, they are awesome guys. Always a pleasure to visit them.

yes! for real !!! went to PK racing a couple of weeks ago and its a nice place , but i dont find the guys in the shop very personal

did ask them a few questions about Lipo and tires and soem other stuff and they could made a few bucks out of me

but instead they give very stock answers and almost had a feeling that they thought PFFFF get lost
so you tipped me about bee racing and i ordered my extra lipo , hpi rims , speed hawgs there
also when you call them with a question they call you back with in an hour and always very friendly

from how i see it that i can spend my moey everwhere but at bee racing they know their stuff
and they make time for you !!! and are well willing too.

i bought stuff from Toemen which is a real ..................
i did some stuff with traxxas shop tilburg -> they even take the time to call or mail back
did try it one time at PK racing but very strange PPL there

and Bee racing is the Place for me now!!

so once again thx for the tip!

I visit Bee because the guys are great and their advise and service are awesome. The prices are not the best, but that is the only disadvantage. PK never was the same since Bas and Erik left. Toemen is just after making a lot of money. Good thing is the fact you dont pay shipping costs for Traxxas parts. Oh well, Dutch prices are just ..... no good.

Always glad to be able to help

i agree that Toemen is a sucker -> still wating on some parts of my uncle his boat which i ordered for him
has been more then 50 days now !!!
i know that they are not charge cost for traxxas part to send but believe me stay away from them

    they suck bigtime!!!!!

i know bee racing is having there price of parts higher but when i mail or call them , they call or mail back and always
take the time for you with advise and some fun talk.
even when they are 10 euro more in price i will order it there , just because they are being nice ppl who know there stuff.

and indeed the Dutxch prices are a rip off most of the times if you see what Liquic rc or the toys or ebay cost are

everything in this country is a big joke -> take a look at fuell prices in this country

You should check out Sullivan dry ice I put it on the t bone ends and cvd cups. Goes on wet and when it dries leaves behind Teflon coating that will protect

i was bakking my Proline speed hawgs in the oven to get them of the rims
and burned my thumbs with that.

learning that these little ............................ can become very hot in a oven in 15 min at 160 c

    Mossie,

Glad your shims finally showed. Sorry to hear about your thumbs, I'm not sure if I would have repeated that story.
