    Question Battery crazyness!?

I finally got my venom 8000mah 20c 2s lipos and took them by my lhs with my truck and they said that they wouldnt work because it isnt above 30c? Everyone on here has said its the amps that matter so I called castle and they said that it needs to be above 30c with lipos besides the traxxas 25c batteries so now I dont know if I should keep my venom batteries because they have enough amps but my lhs and castle says I should get higher c rated batteries. Castlesaid that it doesnt only matter the amps its the c rating because thats the amount of power it puts out right now im pretty confused on what to do.
    That's me!

Im in the same spot, I have three 20c lipos, and have just realized that they are too low C rating for mamba setup.

8000 mAh 20C = 160 amps all good... tell the LHS I said so hahahhhahaaaa...

LHS) ask if they know how to figure the amps.....

    MY BATTS:
    2S 9000 x 28C = 252,000 divide 1000 = 252 amps
    2S 8000 x 28C = 224,000 divide 1000 = 224 amps
    3S 5200 x 40C = 208,000 divide 1000 = 208 amps
    2S 4700 x 25C = 117,500 divide 1000 = 117.5 amps
I run in my Summit.. ^ Requires proper gearing^

    ( mah x c rating / 1000 = amps)
Would you go flip my truck back over??

So if I run the 8000mah 20c setup it will work just fine and not tear up my mamba monster setup? What worries me is castle says that 20c could tear up my esc so does my lhs. They said it cant supply power fast enough to the motor. I just dont want to spend all of my $$$ on replacing my esc.

It would be better to have a higher c rating but you should be fine with those packs as long as your not doing speed runs back and forth for the whole pack...they'll be fine for general bashing as long as your not over geared.(stock gearing should be fine.)
I have a pair of nearly 3 year old ***** 5000mah 15c 4s packs that I ran in my revo for a while when I first got it and they did just fine.

they are 160 amp.. they will be just fine & run times will be around 45 min...
with the 20C it will have less punch, than say a 25C..

JMHO here I could be wrong.... Why do they say 30C... it is easier say, you need a 30C battery. Then to try to explain how to figure amps..

Ok so say you get a 30c in a 3000 mAh that is 90 amps.. still not the 120 min..

GL2U your 8000mAh 20C batts are just fine.. I would have no prob running them....would even gear them 20/54 too..

Agreed with all the above so long as the Venoms are accurately rated.
I've been running two pairs of SPC 2S/20C/8000mAH packs in my ERBE for a couple years and I am still VERY happy with all four batteries. They are also my go-to Summit packs. Defining a certain C-rating as a requirement without taking the second part of the equation (capacity) into account is silly.
If you also make sure to set your LVC to 3.4 volts per cell [minimum] you'll be fine.
