im gonna start off by saying that i dont have a revo, i have a slayer pro. they are built off the same chassis and share a lot of the same parts therefore i wanted to ask this question where i felt i would get the most expertise. dont hate on me cuz i posted this hear i am simply asking here cuz the slayer forum is dead and there are way more pros surfing this forum.
im building this e-slayer cuz i hate the slash and i hate plastic chassis'. plus i used to have a revo that i loved so i figured i would change it up and couldnt go wrong with a truck built off the same chassis.
enough of that. im using the tekno rc and the castle mamba monster esc and motor. so here are my questions. what batteries should i run 3s or 4s? what mah rating? what kind of run time could i expect with the battery you are suggesting b/c runtime IS important? and lastly should i go with mmm2650kv or 2200kv(im thinking 2650 because with the small tires of the vehicle it wouldnt need the torque of the 2200 and that the extra rpms of the 2650 may give it a little more speed of top end)?

2200kv Revo is a heafty truck, like you said 2650 some for speed runs..
You want speed = Voltage & gearing, but watch temps.
2/2s = 14.8v
2/3s = 22.2v
I have yet to break a chassis, now the bulk heads, is another story (two set's of rears)
This is a good start..Just don't buy no name Ebay batts...
2S 9000 x 28C = 252,000 didide 1000 = 252 amps
2S 8000 x 28C = 224,000 divide 1000 = 224 amps
3S 5200 x 40C = 208,000 divide 1000 = 208 amps
2S 4700 x 25C = 117,500 divide 1000 = 117.5 amps

( mah x c rating / 1000 = amps),
The more amps the better / minimun of 120 amps.
The ESC will only draw the amount of amps it needs.
Higher the mAh the longer the runtime.
For brushless systems 8000 mAh about 45 min & a 5000 mAh about 30 min.
Times are longer for brushed systems.
Batts in series double the voltage:
2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 4s 20c 5000mah
Batts in parallel double the mah capacity:
2x 2s 20c 5000mah = 2s 20c 10,000mah.
Hot motor + cool esc = under geared.
Cool motor + hot esc = over geared
Everything warm just right..
Motor ~ 180/190*F maximum, ideally 140/160*F, temps can be 10* higher inside the motor
ESC ~ pretty much same temps / Fan comes on @ 150*F
Lipo's ~ 140*F max, ideally 100/120*F
Besure to check sizing before you buy any batteries...
In time some batteries will become discontinued...
No particular order as to good, better, or best....
With larger Lipo battery wires, you might need to - enlarge the exit hole on battery doors....
or run wires out the vents..

well im converting the nitro chassis to electric. i know its more money and more work but i absolutely do not want another plastic chassis car/truck. ill try and shoot for something like a 4s 14.8v 6000mah 50c battery or so, the tekno rc conversion kit only has one battery tray.
what kind of speeds do you think could be achieved with a 3s battery and the mmm2650 system while still maintaining faster acceleration than a stock slayer 3.3? reason i ask is because a 3s battery is a lot smaller and lighter than an equivalent mah 4s battery which would give me better handling characteristics.
acceleration differencies are really noticeable for every S you increase... we have tested on 2-3-4-5-6s. its not only the top speed. and it is significant
I have a few Tekno converted 3.3 revos and have the most fun with 5s. The set up I used to bash the most is a tekno 3.3 with a castle MMM and a 1518. It runs cool and fast enough for my skills. The other setup are mmm with 1515 on 4s and mmm with 1520 on 6s, the 1515 is in my mint platinum and does not see much use and the 1520 is just a little too heavy when using 6s.
My batterys are turngy and gen aces brands and are all 5000 mah except for the 6s that is at 5600 mah and are 40c
I currently planning to convert a spare tekno 3.3 revos to a slayer! Just at the planning phase and pricing out the slayer parts.

My vote is
2650 on 4s = 39,220 RPM
2200 on 5s = 40,700 RPM
Either one is running at optimal RPM and means you will be more than satisfied.
The balance on 5s is not bad, but the 6s is a little top heavy, but for bashing it has no big issues on either battery. Keep in mind that my current driving skills might notice the balance issue!

I will have Gen Ace 7.4v 5300mah 30c lipos (bought used truck off ebay) with a tacon 2200kv brushless & spektrum DX2S radio with a spektrum sr3300t reciever. Since lipos are used, im preparing to buy new lipos, plus charger for lipos.
