    My Wildcat 4WD

    Hey Guys,

I score a Wildcat on eBay yesterday night!!! With a few used spare parts and manual!!!

Also, I might get a body and rear rims from another seller... And, lots of new parts from another one...

And, I'll probably get another complete runner soon, so, I might end merging the best parts from both of them...

I'm so happy!!! I never thought I could get one in any shape...

Very cool, I was watching that, and thought, I bet Daniel won this thing? Sure enough!

This should be a interesting build for-sure, Not often you see one of Traxxas real first car.

Wish you the best in getting the parts you need, Let me know if the manual list's any part numbers, although trying to reference a few of those parts that sold, was like finding a needle in a haystck. They seemed almost nonexistent, (the numbers) I had to dig deep to figure out what I was looking at, comparing pictures at times.

I will keep the radar on.

EDIT: LMK if you need a few specific pic's, I think I still have some saved somewhere on this overloaded HD.

Thanks Dave! Hahaha, it's funny because I bid $128,22 as my highest bid and then went to a Jazz concert with my girlfriend... I don't have a smartphone so I couldn't check the bid online... I spent the entire concert worried about it... Then, when I got home I saw that I won it and I was very happy...

Of course I will scan the manual... It's not the original manual, it's a xerox copy of it, but I hope it's complete and the seller won't forget to send it to me... I will try my best on this one, I know it will be hard to restore but at least I'll try...

    Thanks guys!

Well, bad news about the body and rear rims, they were for a Kyosho Wildcat...

Bad news about the new parts, only a few available and not the ones I was looking for...

And, still waiting for a confirmation for the other complete but in poor shape Wildcat...

So, so far, it looks like I'm going to fully restore this one... And, I have my first poll, which shocks:

    1) 6 rear TheCat yellow dampers: http://buy.traxxas.com/images/products/1230.jpg
    2) 6 aluminum shocks: http://buy.traxxas.com/images/products/4760.jpg
    3) 6 bigbore shocks: http://buy.traxxas.com/images/products/2660.jpg

I prefer option 1) but it's going to be hard to get 3 new sets...

Wow, glad you won it Dan! I was watching it and almost bid on it. When I missed the ending I was hoping that a forum member got it and sure enough! I'll be watching this build...good luck.

Definitely the Cat shocks. I'm sure you'll be able to find a few sets, it just might take a little while.

I already asked Traxxas and they told me they don't have it in stock (but buytraxxas says there's one in stock)...

Well, it looks like I was able to find 3 new sets of dampers in Belgium, they were in stock at least on the webpage...

Also, the Wildcat arrived and Customs is holding it, I'll go and pick it up this Thursday... I'm so excited!

Hahaha, I'm not planning to restore it like stock, I know that is almost impossible, but, I will manage... I'll anodize the shock towers in silver, I found a complete set of Tamiya rims that looks almost exactly as the originals, I have new tires, new internal gears and driveshafts... Hope the seller included a copy of the manual as I requested... And, maybe I'll get a second Wildcat, so, this will be a long term projct...

But, I'm also sad because I could have gotten more new parts a few weeks ago and I didn't because I was thinking I would never get a roller... I sent a few messages to the guy that got them but he never replied back... Guess my money wasn't good enough...

On another forum I found the guy who "stole" the parts from me... And, I couldn't pick up the Wildcat yesterday, I'll try tomorrow, so excited to see how is it and if the manual was included...

Well, I already opened a thread about this, but, here's the complete manual:

    http://www.traxxas.com.ar/pdfs/wildc...cat_manual.pdf

And, I took some time and made a digital version of the shock towers and tie bar...

I can provide the dxf file if someone needs to make them from scratch...

Yup, and I managed to get 3 new sets of yellow rear shocks! So happy about that!

Question about the motor, the manual says it's a RS540S, but I read an old thread that said it was a Race Prep, so, what was it, anyone knows?

I highly doubt the race prep came with the Wild Cat, go with what the manual says.

I'm pretty sure that the race prep motors came later on (around the time of the Bullet). I actually own one of those motors!

Thanks Cooleocool! So, I got a new 540 motor (it needs caps) and the aluminum spacer plates... I also got a 14T brass pinion but forgot to take a picture of it...

So, I have everything I need to rebuild the front and rear transmission... Let's start with the parts from the front...

One side of the front transmission...

And, the other side of the transmission...

I have to clean a few gears from the rear transmission and I'll put pictures of it soon...

I'm really excited to see how this truck is coming back to life... Hope you like the pics...

Thanks! Original new MSC!!! Pictures from the seller...

It's the one from the Tamiya Hotshot, but it's exactly the same as the one in the Wildcat...

It's new (no marking on the contacts), but I think it has more than 20 years, that's why...

I'll have to check what to use to clean the contacts, and I might change the wires with new ones...

Just use electrical contact cleaner. It should be easy to find and cheap.

contact cleaner is a means to an end but if the surface is pitted or damaged then you need a heck of a lot more than contact cleaner.

I dont see any pitting on that msc so contact cleaner should have no problem cleaning it.
