My son & I have found a couple great little "jump parks" and have been ripping big air. Of course big air often leads to hard landings... I haven't seen a lot of talk about shocks. I've found a pretty broad range from Pro-Line, Traxxas Big Bore, Integy. Any recommendations?
traxxas big bore all the way around
I would recommend the traxxas big bore shocks
Anza Slash VXL
TRX, Big bores
Another vote for big bores. Throw 50 wt oil in them to start, the see if you prefer something else.
Just orderd. Do they come with oil? 50 wt or 30?
they do come with oil i thinks its 30wt. i prefer 50 wt.
Traxxas has a bad habit of under-damping their vehicles. The Slash, the Revo, the Maxx, all come with mush for suspension.
50wt is a good place to start, its a nice middle ground. I've been on a heavy oil kick lately, but after watching slow motion videos of my ERBE, I'm thinking its time for some lighter weight oil.
i like the powerstrokes on mine, i didnt pay for them, my truck came used with them.
i am running the power strokes also, had to buy mine off the wall, not cheap but well worth the $100 price imo. we only race this truck and on a track that bent 2 rear shocks in one night the power strokes are rock solid.
Traxxas big bores with RPM dual stage pistons. You get heavier dampening on the bound stroke. Soaks up the jumps with out giving super stiff (on-road like) dampening that hinders regular off road driving.
40 wt works great with the stock 2wd springs and the green/purple f/r piston combo.
If you are doing really big jumps go with the 4x4 springs and 50 wt oil.
