Why is this nitro motor terminology "Big Block" being used to describe an electric motor? It doesn't shed any light onto its actual size or rpm it just looks good in big print on the box.
So if the XO-1 uses the "Big Block" the 1/10 ERBL uses the "Small Block". Will that be printed on future ERBL boxes?

I know because I bought 3 when they cleared them out

Yeah, the cc1717 is a bad boy. It is kinda too big for 1/8 yet too small for 1/5 scale.
A cc1520 and a XL2 on 8s could smoke the RTR X0-iPhone noobs.
I did read that CC reworked the "Big Block"(Black 1717) to make it even better than the 2+year old Green 1717.

"We developed a whole new stator and rotor design for this car -- it uses a shorter and lighter rotor for faster spin-up, and is up to 4% more efficient than the original 1717.
The stator design was optimized for higher maximum currents, and higher saturation currents -- so the efficiency doesn't "brick wall" at extreme currents".
I have the original 1717 and like all green motors, it's build for lowend torque vs high rpm for the IO-1.

I put it in a 1/8th scale truck that weighed in around 16 pounds fully loaded (tires, batteries, etc) and it tossed that truck around like a rag doll on 4s geared for ~45 MPH. On 6s the performance was just hilarious. I can't believe they tweaked and tuned that motor and stuck it in a road car, that car is going to be mental!
My input on the original question is that the term "Big Block" doesn't necessarily come from the nitro side of the RC world, but from the American cars of the 50's and 60's with the horsepower wars......big block, small block. I see it being used as a reference to a big, high horsepower, bad-boy motor more so than the nitro RC reference.

They will fit the E-Revo but it'll take some work. My brother fit one in his Summit but had to mod something to make it fit (rear shock mount, I think) and because of the diameter it's interesting to find gearing that fits but you can make it work. Wicked motor on 4s in a Summit or E-Revo!

I had a question about the electronic cubic inches but then i saw the pic of the 17-17 motor next to the E-Maxx motor and then how it weighs a 4th of a lb so that really cleared things up a bit
