Question Stiffer shocks for Slash 1/16 VXL 4WD and Summit 1/16

I'm thinking of getting some new shocks for my sons Slash and Summit. I've replaced the springs to the hardest that traxxas can offer, but they still dont seem hard enough? We're bashing and jumping alot

I have some newbee questions for you guys:

Whats the thing about piggyback shocks?
Ive seen that Integy offers these kind of shock for 1/16. Will these be harder or softer than the regular type? Other specs about piggyback to consider?
I know Integy alu hop-ups has a bad rumor, does this count for the 1/16 series as well?

Anybody got some experience with other products to recomend.

    All help is appreciated, thanks

    The shock list:
    (from cheapest to most expensive)
    GPM with Traxxas "X" shafts
    Traxxas "X"
    Exotec Big Bore

All are better than stock... opinions vary on which is best.
In any case, piggy back shocks are a waste of money. They WILL leak.

Integy is hit and miss... mostly miss.
    Good Integy :
Bulkheads, Transmission housing, center shaft with modification, possibly the new axle shaft, small non-stress bearing parts.
    Bad Integy :
    EVERYTHING else they make.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

exotecs have worked wonders for me. the really can take a beating. no leaks in 3 months only downside is you have to remove the reciver box and servo(s) ( i run dual 390 's) a little expensive though id use a 80 or 90 wt oil for the summit or revo not sure about the slash i found that integy axle shafts are not that great if you bash and run a 3s

yeah i tried it because of a failed rock crawler dig servo system so i just slapped it on. i did make a custom servo saver( more like a servo destroyer or in this case steering linkage destroyer) i use 6 v so its fast and strong
