I checked out the Tekin T8 motors and found buggy and truggy:
I have nice offer for a buggy combo with a T8 4030 with 2050kv while the truggy combo should rather be T8 4038 with 2250kv. What is teh difference between truggy and buggy?
Had the same question. The buggy motors are smaller. You want the truggy motor in the summit. I installed a RX8 2000 and love it. Great slow speed and it rips.
Which motor depends on what you want to run in batteries.
Look on the E-Revo side for lots more information on this install.
Gearing can be found on page #2 here:http://www.traxxas.com/pdfs/5608_manual-2009.pdf
I want to run with two batteries each 2S 5000mAh as the regularsummit. So it adds to 4s and using the comparison link -> there I stand with the T8 4038 truggy with 2250kV or the T8 4030 buggy mit 2050kV. If the buggy is smaller it will fit into my truggy summit, not?
It's just that there is a nice offer for $250 for both and I hesitate cause I don't want to have parts that don't fit...
Gearing/Pinion I can let stock I assume.
best tekin motor
the truggy motor has more torque and will overheat less and can handle larger batteries and heavier trucks. The buggy motor will be faster but heat up faster as well. They both will work, but go with the truggy motor - 18/68 is a great gearing combo to start with then gear it up for more speed or down it you are more into trail/rock crawling
MAN, Use Common Sense.
Outside? THERE IS NO BOX !
I use the Tekin Buggy T8 motor and its fine. I just have to gear a bit lower to accommodate for its smaller size.
