*RALLY OWNERS POLL* Who has one??

Just curious to see how many people actually own a Rally?? There are nearly 3000 views on the gallery, but only 25 posts, and some of those aren't pictures of Rally's! So have many people bought a Rally, or are you waiting for delivery, or are all the Rally owners too busy driving to show off their vehicle on the forum??

If you're a Rally owner please say how many you have and what colours etc, any mods and pics if you have them!

    Thanks

    Green one!

    Mods:

Lowered gearing to 23 T pinion
Changed front shock oil to 70 wt Associated oil
Installed center diff with 10K Traxxas fluid
Removed arm on servo saver for second servo
    Removed guard for second servo
Added another Teflon washer to preload of servo saver
Installed Deans connectors, just because that is what I run
Removed vanes in battery vent to pass Deans and battery wires up through vent
Cut tires to diamond shape tread pattern
Replaced most of the screws with stainless steel for that contrasting bling factor.
Played alot with shock preloads to get perfectly equal left-to-right steering & drift traction

Next I plan on removing the water-proof receiver box to take more weight off the car. I never will be running in wet conditions so I will not miss the receiver box. After that I may install aluminum fasteners in many of the low stress locations.

I have a 28'x56' concrete basement at home that is about 70% open space. I laid out a drift-road course using heavy, lead weights that are the shape of an upside down cereal bowl. The weights are painted bright orange for visibility and they do not move, yet they are low profile enough for the car to run over them, so there is no damage to the car. Tons of fun on a cool rainy fall day!

I have two MERV's, both with Center Diffs and various other nice upgrades. And what bothers me about these Mini's is that they are spin machines. They are so fast and light, that they spin out all the time. AND, they have a tendency to flip. Granted, they land on their feet most of the time!

In checking out the vids of the Rally... I have to wonder if they aren't just spin machines that are impossible to really "drift" with? They seem too light. And notice that most of the Traxxas vids are in Slow Motion. I think the key to controlling these vehicles is to drive them at moderate speeds, then accelerate thru the corners to get yer drift? I've never drifted before, but I'm thinking of converting one of my two MERV's into a Rally.

I'll be really surprised if these Rallys aren't frustrating "Flip and spin" machines. I hope they aren't. Same goes for the Mini Summits too. I bet those will flip over constantly. I think it's because the trucks are just too light. And with the rear of the chassis being a weak spot, they can't be much heavier because then you'll snap the chassis at bulkheads!

I'm not trying to be negative... I'm just hoping someone will tell me how wrong I am. I really like the MERV, but at the same time, I'm frustrated by it too.

As noted in my previous thread, I am in the process of making my Rally even lighter. As for it not drifting, I can get the coolest drifts, at speed or going more slowly. I will run an entire battery pack out at a time, just running the road course mentioned in my basement. And for the record, the concrete in my basement ranges from very smooth to lightly brushed. I can repeat the same type of drifting and cornering on my smooth asphalt driveway or on the street in front of my home. The car doesn't seem to care which surface it is on, it will drift, slide and accelerate with ease. Mine does not easily flip over.

    Again using my perception......

You've been saying that there is only one shop near you and they aren't getting Rally's for a while yet. So, I doubt you've driven one at a shop

    Am I right?

Get out there and drive!! Sounds like you've got a perfect test location for a Rally. Will you get some off road tyres for the baseball diamond?

    I thought so!

If I get one, it will be either from Wheelspin or Modelsport. Wheelspin is just about in driving distance, and their new showroom has an enormous car park! Going and getting is so much more exciting than having delivered in the post!

    Did you order 4?

If you were even a semi-regular customer, like me, they'd mail those codes to you.
