    lipo and ezrun beginners questions

    Hello
I'm new to lipo and brushless word, so sorry if my questions are kinda stupid
I've bought decent charger (something like imax) + ******* 2s lipo (20c 5000mah) + ezrun 60a 8,5t combo. My charger has program for balancing 2s lipo - here no problems. But in esc I can set low voltage cutoff - 2,6 or 2,8 or 3,0 or 3,2 or 3,4 volts. Which should I choose ?
For some street running I've put 23 - 86 gearing, with 7,5 timing, my slash gets top speed 54 kmh (about 33miles / hour). Isnt that a bit slow ? With that gearing I thought slash will drive at least 65kmh. Battery was a bit used, but still... After 15 min of running on asphalt engine was slightly warm. With fresh battery and 15-90 gearing slash reached 35kmh.
    Any ideas ?

3.4 or 3.2 at the lowest. Any lower and you risk damage. The speed is normal.
You can try increasing the timing to what it is at stock (15).

I would set it for 3.4. I don't know what kV your motor is rated at but my vxl (3500kV) slash on 2s lipo geared 23/86 gets about 40 to 43 mph. And I can run it with alot of WOT for 25 minutes without checking the temps and it's fine.

Can we have a link to the motor/esc you bought?

    Yeah, my set is 4000kv
I'll give a try to 28-86 gearing and I'll try to increase timing
Maybe higher "output" battery will help - something like 40c or so ?

Not really, as the set can only draw so much. You may gain a little off-the-line punch, but not top speed.

The ezrun 4000kv 8.5t was designed for a 'normal' 1/10 size RC..if you run anything as heavy as a slash, you'll never see a similar top speed as the Velineon, especially with very high gearing. There's just isn't enough torque. I've tried advancing the timing, tried many gearing combos all you get is excessive heat and unoticable gain in performance, so I currently keep mine at the default 15* (no.5), and geared 13/56 (32 pitch), this seems to be the best gearing for my local track.. but not on the long straight where the huge torque of the VXL overcomes the air gobbing parachute like resistance of the body

Myth busted: Blitz is not faster on the track.

    1. program your esc in sport mode
    2. set punch at 9
    3. set timing at 15(stock)
    4. re-caliberate the esc

the 60a esc 8.5t 4000kv with 2s lipo with 23-86 will in theory give 55km/h
so there is nothing wrong, but follow the steps above and you will get more out of your esc/motor.
