First Thread! Your thoughts on the Titan...

Hey Traxxas fans! This boat looks sick! Just wondering what you guys think of it...

I see it has a water cooling system? sweet! And the Velineon motor can handle up to 6s lipos! 50+ on a stock boat, that's sick.

I wonder if they are going to make trucks up to 6s capable now with Traxxas products, not Castle as in the ERBE and such.

Anyways, post what you think of it here!

Edit: 2nd thread I guess... another member clicked 2 minutes before me, lol!

It's a nice looking boat with plenty of power if you choose to go that route. I am not happy with the choice of name though. Why name it after a motor that wears out quickly? I emailed Traxxas my idea for a name. I explained to them why they should name it the "Hurricane"!!!!

    Ok, let's try this again.

^^^ I agree with you there dcsally97. I wish it had a diff. name. I had pure problems with a couple Titans that I had for my Rustler years back. Is it too late for a name change Traxxas?

I agree on the name Hurricane, They already have a product called the titan, and if you add an "ic" it will sink for sure!!

Wait to you hear it! The video doesn't do the sound justice as it screams by and then all you hear is the water from the rooster falling for a long time afterwards.

I gotta say I love the boat and i'm sure I'll pick one up within a year.
However I still don't agree with the name being there are titan motors already, which aren't used in the boat nonetheless. But oh well, titan it is.

Anyone have an even remote guess as to what it will retail for.

It says will retail for $399, so I'm guessing it will sell for about $310 or so

I think some are confusing retail and MSRP. MSRP is the one that is typically 25-50% above the street price. Retail is street price. It will be $399 in most places, you could probably find it at $375ish at some online places.

Tower is $384.99 now, minus the $60 = $324.99 Shipped!!

Just ordered me a red one and I may get a blue for my 10 year old son.

    Can't wait!!

I totally spaced when I came up with my estimates, I was thinking traxxas was stating $399 retail, however they were referring to suggested selling price.
However Jason you kinda have that backwords too. Retail is the higher price you see. For example retail on the Titan is $680, but the actual is $385-$399 or so.

And as for cooling the esc, even tho it is water-cooled you can make anything work. Like i've stated in other titan threads, there is a water-cooled system now for land vehicles for such an application (systems found by stinger30) The only downside to this system is price. For the brushless system it's $180. But i'm sure you could fab one up yourself to work pretty easily. Anything is possible. http://www.tcscooling.com/index.html

Yeah... a villian EX retails for $250... this thing will have to be every penny of $400. My guess would be $499... A venom brushless is about $399 I think. Maybe we'll get lucky and traxxas will not only be the fastest and best looking... but also the most competitively priced as well.

I'm not sure what Traxxas is going to do price wise.
If you look back at past models, whether its the villain, blast, rustler, emaxx, etc. The prices (now anyways) are running about 52-65% of that of retail. Now using that info tells me that maybe not right away, but down the road it will run around $250
So starting out i'm going to guesss it'll run low-mid $300's.

Btw pavmentsurfer the villain ex retails for $410, it's priced $250 now.

I could understand this if it was given the name of a certain hurricane. But being from wisconsin I cant say for sure, I have never experienced one, and now that I sit here and think about it more I see your point.

LOL. Hopefully I don't have to go through one of those. Not exactly sure how much interest that name would bring for a boat though.

The name Hurricane would be fine for me...

I'm just wondering how Traxxas got by with the name Titan, as Aeromarine already has a hull called Titan. I'm assuming Aeromarine didn't have the copyright for the name.

Just remember what happened the last boat that was named after a Titan

WOW awesome boat... sorry to go of topic, but will this new VXL 6s system outperform the Mamba Moster, and will a land version be in the emaxx/erevo brushless editions in the near future? How much will the system alone cost? Thanks!

I just noticed, in regards to my earlier question about pricing, the site actually says suggested retail will be $399... thats almost unbelieveable. Even if tower sells them for full retail you can get $60 off. That is just sick. 2.4 radio, includes batteries (albeit ones that need to be upgraded but still). What a deal. This thing makes a SV27 look like a toy... and its super competitive on price. Ive just decided... getting one.
Strange that the bearing supported drive system is an option. I would think with a power system like this bearings would be included. Not a big deal... just interesting. All other VXL vehicles have bearings.
