Twin 12T 550 motors in Emaxx

My sons Emaxx's motors both burned out so I had a spare Titan 550 12T from his old Rustler and I bought another 12T as funds are short these days (two titan 550s = $40 and one 12T = $22) I put both 12Ts in the Emaxx. The truck runs alot faster now however it gets hot nearly instantly. The motors get to about 160 F right away and the ESC goes to about 120-130 F. are these temps safe?

Those motors are not designed for a heavy truck like the Emaxx. Should have bought two Emaxx motors instead.

you might want to go a couple teeth smaller on the pinions, that should help the temps.

Like said before, you need the 12T Monster 550's for the Emaxx.

Should have bought two Electrifly S-600's. People report that they have great power and last pretty good and they are only $15 a piece. They are rated at 7.2-8.4v but seem to work fine and last even at higher voltages. Mine works good in my stampede.

Oops, my bad. The stock Titans in the Emaxx are 21T 550's, not 12T 550's.

I'm experimenting with twin 12T Titans on my E-Maxx, running 12 tooth pinions and a 68 tooth spur. I'll keep you posted.

Well so far the motors are not actually getting that hot. I have not changed anything either. I think they got really hot the first time becasue I was testing it out in a grass field. Yesterday we went to a large dirt area and my son ran the emaxx and I checked the temps every now and then and they stayed well below 120 F. Just to be safe though I will be getting either two new Titan 550 Monsters or possibly getting another Titan 775 like my Summit uses.

interesting. I may try this out. dual 12t titans. theymay not have the torq but adjusting the pinion may work. my question is can they handle 16.8 volts in a new maxx.

So far they've been ok, but I haven't been running them much.

My son's Emaxx is the newer one with the EVX-2. so that's 16.8 right? We only use NIMH 7 cell batteries and no LIPOs.

The 12T Titans are rated up to 8.4 volts. If you want to run them on the E-Maxx, you can only one 7 cell, not two.
