    50mph pinion question

Can the 50mph pinion be used for bashing on a single battery?

yes... you will get more torque (take off power, acceleration) but you will get a lower top speed... prob bout 20-25mph

Hmm, so the stock pinion that comes on the truck is technically capable of speeds higher than 50mph? If it was safe for the motor of course.

    well...

the stock pinion in the slash is 31 tooth and e-revo is 28 tooth

the "50mph pinion" is smaller then the stock, slash - 28 tooth, e-revo - 23 tooth

so when using two batteries in series the motor will spin a higher rpm and if the gearing stayed stock the motor will over heat so a smaller pinion will be needed thus the need for the "50mph pinion" even tho the pinion is small and traxxas says it is "safe" some (not everyone) is having overheating problems

i personally have the e-revo and use the "50mph pinion" with the two batteries in series and my ESC will shut down after about 10min of running on a track. i should not use the two batteries cause: 1) its just too much power to use off-road on a dusty track with stock tires and 2) i need to re-gear it and cut the windshield for more air flow

how did we go from the subject of pinions to choosing between the slash and e-revo

it will come down to your choice and where your gonna play at... the e-revo can handle rougher train and the slash has more scale looks... it your choice
