Looks like the EVX2 got a bug fixed.
The red middle wire from the receiver has a SS36 skottky diode on it. Looks like they are protecting from reverse voltage. I have been bitten by the press the button to turn "off" and everything goes in smoke problem and seems like this "solves" it because they no longer include the "turn off by removing the batteries" sticker.... yay
where does it have this diode on it? Inside the EVX2 or between the wire and plug for the receiver?

On the wires going to the receiver. The three wires are external to the esc itself. I think they are ground, +ve and signal. The middle one is RED. They inserted a schottky barrier diode (low voltage drop) diode in series on the RED wire. It must be to prevent some reverse voltage for some reason. Looks like it was hand-soldered because the SMD diode is badly soldered.. oh well. if you are interested, maybe use a 1N5822 axial schottky 3A 40V diode..it should be the same type of thing.
