    Lexel(silicone caulk) on fuel tank

Well, a few days ago I posted about my leaking tank, and putting Lexel over the leak. I wasn't sure how long it would hold, but now I know. I only ran about 4 tanks of fuel through before it came loose.

So, FYI, Lexel is not a long term fix for a cracked tank(and this is a tiny crack).

It did run long enough for me to try out my new DC res. and high volume air filter, though!

I told ya so . Now you can try sanding it and glob on some JB weld. You should get at least 6 more tanks from that! Although the JB will cost as much as a new tank but this way you can fix other stuff too

Glad you like the DC. Its a great improvement!

Hey NeverEndingNinj, before purchasing a stock tank, consider doing an Ofna tank upgrade. It requires a little rearranging, but worth the effort.

hey wait a second.. im a noob to nitro RC..but i KNOW JB weld...

mixed and cured properly, JB should hold back the leak. be sure the tank is CLEAN (like..seriously not kidding clean) before you apply it...let it cure properly and you ought to be able to drill and tap that JB weld!!

JB Weld will last anywhere from 1-20 tanks. I have tried everything under the sun for tanks repairs. The only thing I have used that holds for any reasonable time is Gel Nail Acrylic...The kind my wife uses in her Salon It must be cured with a UV light like the dentist uses for dental acrylic.

Ok, I duct taped some JB weld over a piece of bubble gum and then sprayed the whole thing with WD40. I should get 2 or 3 gallons out of it.

Seriously though, I've got some JB weld out in the shop, but I didn't bother putting any on. I'll just go pick up a new tank tomorrow. The JB weld wouldnt even be cured before I got the new tank home and installed.

I'll probably JB weld it and hang on to it for backup.

It'll be cured by tomorrow. Buy the new one and keep the new one as a spare!

I wouldnt waste my time with the JB weld. Like Snook, I have tried every kind of glue, epoxy, silicone, and/or caulk the Lowe's and Walmart have to offer. You may get 7-8 tanks, or you may not get throught the first. Nitro will just eat through it. Same goes for a stripped carb body, just chunk it and get a new one.
