    Try a new glow plug!

I could understand a new glow plug when it dies but would that causes the engine to change sounds like that?

My bet is the glow plug. Have a friend with a T-maxx that did something similar. He put a fresh glow plug in and it fired right up.

The engine is changing sound because you are opening and closing the throttle while you’re cranking the engine.
I have a sneaky feeling all you need is a new plug.

Im used to the engine changing tones but it sounds like it was going to start and sounded much better with the brakes applied. I will try a new plug.

I agree... It looks and sounds like your idle gap is closeing when you apply the brakes. You may need a throttle screw and/or linkage and trim adjustment.

I had that same problem with my Revo not to long ago. It just would not want to start. I found out that I had a bad EZ Start controller and wouldn't heat the glow plug even though its glow plug light lit. Fortunately I had a spare controller and it fired up the engine immediately.

Three? Did you get one for your Nitrosport? I can only name two, one for your dad's Jato and one for you Slayer.

Ok I tried it today and bad news. Put a new glow plug in and it started but I think there is a bigger problem. When I give it gas the spur gear and bell gear spins but that truck dosnt move. Im guessing a tranny problem?

Well first I'd suggest to remove the rev-...oh yeah the Slayer doesn't come with reverse. Lol. Seriously, have you turn the spur gear with your finger? If you push it backwards will the spur gear spin?

Slipper might be too loose or you could of stripped the input gear in the tranny (common tranny gear to brake) or you could of possible snapped one of the set screw pin deals that hold the gears to the shafts in the tranny.

New glow plug worked for me also. I was having the same issue. It got to the same point that I had to apply the throttle a little just to get it to crank. I installed a new 3232x glow plug is it fires and runs great now. Doesn't take near as long to warm up either... Who would have thunk.....

as long as you got enough fuel in the carb and use glow igniter rather than the blue wire... you will have instantaneous starts...

Could it be the actual clutch? The clutch could not be engaging, which would cause it not to move

I have the same start problem I took apart the motor blew every thing out with air even the carb set every thing back to factory replaced the glow new can of traxxas fuel, and it started,,,WOW but it ran for just a second and went nuts with the rev nothing moved I had to pull the fuel line to stop it and got no fuel out of the line , somethiong broke and I think the clutch this would mak it three now, I like the truck but it is a lot of problems. so apart again and see what is up cluitch or tranny? we will find out
