    Best Replacement for Titan 12t

What do you guys think the best replacement for a Titan 12t is?

    I only have an XL5 and a 3000mah 8.4v batt, (I plan on getting another 4600mah 8.4v as well)

Obviously they burn out pretty good and fast, so I was just wondering what you guys have upgraded to (less than going brushless)

My price range is $50 or less but I will go up to $60 if needed.

Thoughts? If I left out any information, just let me know, I'll be on the forums for a few more hours before turning in.

Just make sure you replace the Bushings and Brushes when the time comes around.

So would more turns be faster than less turns, I thought I saw somewhere that less turns were better, but I'm not sure.

Ok. Well, the Titan 12 T is a 550 sized motor, so it has a longer can length and armerature. So, a 12 Turn 550 is comparable to a 540 sized 15 turn motor. The more turns there are(higher turns) equals more Torque, where as less turns equals more speed. The problem is you can gear reallly low turn motors to fit a rusty, and they overheat. Also, the lowest turn you can run on the Xl5 is a 15 Turn.

i would go with the 17t or 15t orion pro formula bb motor not the bushing one. i think it is 39.99 from tower but when i ran it th results where great. I also had one of there 12t motors but your xl-5 esc can not handle that motor.

So, If I want the 15t, I would go with this one right? It's rebuidable right? Otherwise I'll just end up in the same boat. It seems all the Team Orion Motors are, but I just want to make sure...
I want torque, but i still want to get some pretty good speeds as well...

    Different Replacement

The Ball Bearing Version. Buy this one over the Bushing one.

As for speed, they will get close to the same, i would say the higher turn since it will be easier to gear and not near as hard on the ESC.

Yes, the Pro BB version is rebuildable.

The motor is on their website, too:

that is not the team orion website i was looking at, lol

thanks cooleo, I've decided to go with the 15t Bearing... As soon as tower gets it in stock, but i'll look elsewhere too, not sure if my LHS has it, and they closed an hour ago, so, I'll have to wait then...

Don't forget to pick up a 13-tooth pinion gear for the motor. I'd probably pick up a 14-tooth as well if you are still using Rustler sized tires.

That pinion wont work its a 32 Pitch and the rustler uses 48 Pitch you would need something like this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEX12&P=7

I'm just saving up to go brushless, my titan is almost dead, bearings need oil regulary, and i've had it up to 200 a few times. had over 30 runs with it so in comparison to some it's not been to bad. I figure since over this time i'd have to buy brushes, cleaning solution, take it in to get lathed from time to time or buy one.. the ease of BL started to sway me.

I think you'll be fine with a 17 or 19 pinion depending on conditions.... I've run 23 on asphalt before...
