    Upgrade old stampede to vxl

Hey all I have a 15 yr old stampede that I would like to upgrade to a vxl. Any recommendations for parts to look over or change to handle this motor on 3s lipo? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

aside from the velinion system (motor and esc) I would highly recommend some strong axles. Most seem to run MIP's or Teknos. I went with Tekno's on my 4x4 and am impressed after 6 packs.

You would probably want to do a slipper clutch upgrade as well

Oh...and wheelie bars. Definitely get wheelie bars

And bearings, 15 years old probably has bushings through out.

ESC fan. Watch gearing and temps. And maybe a motor fan( about to be summer).

Do you know of a fan that will fit that motor? I've heard heat sinks will work but I'm not sure about going that route

should not have heat issues even in summer if your truck is right. Never ran fans. Most need them for speed runs.

Suggest down loading the VXL exploded view and upgrade from there, a few come to mind is bearings, camber links and the best upgrade of all is aluminum castor blocks and axle carriers (Traxxas or STRC).
How old is it will determine a lot such as is your tranny housing equipped with the metal gears for brushless and is it equipped with an adjustable slipper (old model did not have clutch shoes)

I have a Castle Creations Mamba X and a Castle Creations 2400kv motor in all of my 2wd Traxxas trucks (Sla2h, P2de, Rusty).

Runs well on 2S. Amazing on 3S. 4S is nuts. The system runs nice and cool even on very hot summer days.

I suggest opening up your gearbox and differential. Everything needs to be cleaned and relubed. Also, the older Pede may need new internal gears since the old ones had plastic gears.

Oh yeah, wheelie bar! Get a T-Bone Racing rear bumper and wheelie bar. They are practicallly indestructible! I know, I crash a lot!
