You charge the battery with storage mode if your charger has it. If not charge to around 3.9v per cell or so for the best results.
You will have to protect the esc. Everything else should be fine.
Well since this is a traxxas forum I would suggest the e revo.
You could probably cut off the splines on the wheels.

Im guessing your mesh might not be set right? using a piece of paper usually helps when setting the gear mesh
I dont know how they are, but the wing will act like a wheelie bar.
I still have the Revo 3.3 body on mine.
Its usually around 20-30min for me depending on what im doing.

I bought the conversion kit from tekno years ago and I have a **** tech 6k mah.
It will fit, but is very close to the edges.
I find that badlands work well on sand.

Most people tape with a duct tape like gorilla tape and go around the tire once or twice.
