+1, stay as far away from the HV ESC as you can. Motor is among the best, ESC, not so much.
whatever you do, put a fan on that motor and vent your body. Those motors runs warm in 4x4 SC trucks.
MMPro is sensored which offers huge improvements in overal driveability. For 2S racing, get as close to 5,000Kv as possible. This would put you in the optimal RPM (volts x Kv=RPM).
this stuff works great - http://frogtape.com/
...they also feature interchangeable stators (4.5 -7.5), available tuning rotor (14mm), replaceable sensor harness (4", 6" & 9") & adjustable timing.
Be hard to beat Ballistic 550 + MMPro combo.
Curious how they bind given their telescoping shaft design. Would you share more detail?
Released or announced? Are these available at shops? Online? Anyone running them?
Closest to Velineon (3500 Kv) would be either the HV5.5 (3700Kv) or the HV6.5 (3400Kv). HV7.5 is rated 3000Kv and thus would need to be geared up to achieve Velineon RPM's.
In general, 2-pole motors like the HV don't tolerate advanced timing so well. Recommened timimg is zero degrees.
HV4.5 MMPro - 12/54 (indoor clay track)
Yeah, I had mine mounted that way, but moved it to better accomodate the sensor wire.
Castle has been including a coupon for Castle Link with new MMPro's. It entitles you to a free USB link or the new field link fo $10. Most important default settings to change are to remove the...
+1 - there are hundreds of folks running Novak sensored, high Kv motors with MMPro's, Tekins, etc. Works fine.
Take out the default MMPro timing which will help bring down temps
...and the MMPro is software programmable and firmware updateable.
+1 - I run mine 12/54 as well. Program the default timing advance out of the MMPro and it runs great! Lot's of power, no heat in motor, ESC or batteries. Love this setup!
Wow, these are beautifully machines parts! Should help dissipate heat as well. The motor mount (6860X) and the motor plate (6890X) are both shipping (EBay). They look super cool! Can't wait to get...
12/54 on 2S for indoor clay track for my HV4.5 + MMPro. Runs cool, lot's of pop for the jumps and good speed. Don't forget to program the timing advance out of the MMPro. HV doesn't need it & it'll...
Step #1 - read Slayden's racing setup thread (sticky at the top). There, you will find the answer to all of your questions and more.
+1. Great setup!
with the rapid advances in battery technology, combined with safety concerns, I'd go with the best charger on the market - Hyperion. Upgradeable, store mode, and lots more useful features. Best price...
Either remove the seal from the top of the ammo can, or simply keep the lid partially open. Either way, great for storing LiPo's.
