Aluminum is great for bling and durability, but I would not add it to gain speed.

After modifying my truck to be "competitive" in racing, I would not bash with it, for many of the same reasons that I would not bash with a race bred truck.

Having modified my rustler from top to bottom and front to back for racing, I 2nd everything that has been stated!
Insane amounts of time spent at the workbench x countless hours reading forums + excessive trips to the track/bashing grounds, etc....

Here is my track - brand new layout! The surface is unusual in that it has a loose top with hard pack underneath. Deep pin style tires like lugnuts or step pins seem to be the ticket here.

I also vote for getting a peak charger.
However, you can watch for a full charge by using a digital voltmeter. The pack is "peaked" when the voltage starts dropping while charging.
How are you setting your mesh?
