If the grub screw is closer to the motor, the gears don't mesh well. (Only about 1/3 of the gears mesh).
That's why I'm wondering what brands are known to mesh well.
What pinion brand will fit those for a slash?
None of the 48p pinions I had would fit it, the grub screw missed the end of the motor shaft when I lined it up so it would mesh with the spur.
I recently got this set. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUFH8&P=7
While I don't care for Integy's hop ups, that wrench set is great. And if I round any off, the tips aren't...
Sure. I think side to side, without the bumpers it's a perfect fit. Front to back it looks short to me, kinda awkward, but that's more a preference thing. It should fit and clear the tires fine,...
Here ya go. Looks a little short, and you'd definitely have to remove the side bumpers. Other then that, it should mount up fine.
I love it on the E-Revo. I can take a couple pics, sure.
I've got the little Helios for my rock crawler, and the larger one for my E-Revo. While it's a sweet body, I just put the larger one up to my slash, and it doesn't look like it'd sit well. you'd...
Yep. The reason you have to do it is, if your stock tx is like mine, the steering trim was way to the left.
You're just zeroing it out correctly by doing the above.
I still needed minor trim...
I had the same scenario.
Yes a Y-Cable is correct.
I had to re-center my steering (remove the arms from the servo's, turn on 3r, let it stay centered, turn on the car so the servo's center, put...
Go with the Kershaw 650's or a single 700-HO. It's worth the small expense, and you won't have to wonder when your motor's gonna die or slow down again. (I never had a problem with my titans, but...
Updated - Alternate (Brushless) Setup
Motor(s): Novak HV Pro 5.5

Yeah. My LHS owner gave me a freebie old body to chop up.
Cut out all the windows & headlights & put in screen instead. Tons of airflow.
If Traxxas ever starts shipping the prographics bodies...
On the topic of heatsinks, I keep wanting to find some way to make use of Heat Pipes, like some of the newer PC CPU heatsinks have. Get the heat away from the motor / ESC, out from under the body,...
Dug this up to dye some LPR rulux wheels today - worked awesome!
Looks like they were made with black plastic!
I have noticed that some RC companies take an open diff, seal it, and put in really thick grease, and call it a limited slip diff. Mechanically and technically, it's not, but the effect is somewhat...
Seems like a good place for a quick explanation of differentials...
A differential just lets the wheels turn at different rates. You need to match what kind of diff you want to what you're trying...
I got the traxxas revo wheelie bar. Easy install. Once it's on it's a quick disconnect if you want to run without it to jump or whatever.
Does the job, no complaints here!
I'm pretty lucky with my LHS. The owner is a Nitro guy, races a Revo. So he's got lots of revo parts stock. For the electric stuff, he's basically learning along with me and another E-Revo owner,...
As I just noted in another post, if you're going to run your 700 in water, clean it out after. Did so yesterday and discovered a good bit of dirt in mine. (I ran it in a cup of water to clean it)
Most water you're going to run in contains bits of sand & debris floating in it - especially if you're stirring it up with your e-revo.
I was out bashing the other day, took a jump really off,...
The kershaw does great in water (tested, my e-revo went through about 6" of water with a kershaw in, no problems).
Brushless? You'd be toast. Pretty sure none are.
How easy is it to disconnect a Novak motor from the controller?
I have a 5.5 system on the way, and I'm thinking I might order a 6.5 to swap to when I'm running in different conditions. Would I...
Nothing quite that bad... Northern Indiana.
Knowing my LHS they have smaller pinions in stock anyway, but I'll start with the 14.
Oh, one thing - the smallest pinion I ordered is a 14. Have the stock spur. Am I going to need a smaller pinion for sure? I ordered 14 - 16, can go ahead and order more if it's a good idea.
