    WD-40 does leave a protective lubrication surface as well. It's not a lubrication good enough to handle any high level of friction, but more than good enough to protect it against rust.

    I think they'll do just fine, I won't be running on any concrete or asphalt, purely offroad. If they wear out fast I'll just reuse the rims. However on the look for something onroad as well.
