Yes, the XL-5 has low-voltage detection/cut-off.
It has two distinct programming modes. One for NiCD/NiMH packs and one for LiPO packs. In LiPO mode, it has low-voltage cut-off.
The VXL is nice because it's supported by Traxxas, is waterproof, it comes with TRX connectors already soldered on and it uses OEM mounting posts on the chassis, which makes for a cleaner install...
You're aware that this is a hobby, and sometimes a little DIY work is needed, right?
I'd love to see this guy try to build an airplane..Get a box of balsa and he'd flip out..
Rustler VXL's good, so is the Slash 2wd, Slash 4wd, Stampede 2x or 4x..
It's really, really hard to beat the fun-for-your-buck that you'll get out of a Slash 2wd. They're inexpensive, they're...
Whatever you do, don't get sucked into the "Aluminum is superior!" trap.
I've had my Slash for probably 5 years now and I've broken the following on it:
1 rear hub carrier
One of the upgraded...
And yes, the XL-5 supports lipos. But you have to put it in lipo-mode so that it has low-voltage cut-off.
Or..well..see the video above.
Do not get lipos wet.
Everything I was looking for. Thank you very much.
Have a beer on me.
I'm sure they've had the hint for a while.
What they didn't have (and apparently still don't, given the front of the new body) is the licensing from GM to make an H3 replica.
My 1st generation Slash.
Very used, rarely broken.
Love this truck.
Do not cheap out on a lipo charger.
Lipos can easily become unstable at best, volatile at worst. You want to spend money on a quality charger. It'll save your batteries, it could save your...
Even beyond the spares, so much of buying a whole nother slash would be wasted.
I don't want the crap tires
I don't want the crap radio (I have a DX4S)
I don't want the crap motor or ESC (I have...
I still run my nitros because to me, it's more impressive. You get the whole sight-sound-smell experience along with going fast.
But electric, after the introduction of lipos and brushless...
Agree. 5400MAh-6000MAh is plenty. That's 30-45 minutes of running a Slash. Honestly, I stick with batteries in the 3600MAh range because any more and I get bored before the battery's low anyway.
I second the servo saver.
I tried the ProLine bellcrank, thinking it'd be nice and smooth like the old Losi and Associated bellcranks.
It bound, it slipped, it was awful.
I went back...
Actually, an 8200MaH battery might fit on the stock straps.
Looks like the Traxxas-branded 7600 2S will fit in the standard straps.
Even if it doesn't fit, it'll be because it's too tall, most...
You may need the extended battery strap, or one of the aftermarket velcro-style strap kits, but electronically, the VXL's rated up to 3S, so yeah, it'll handle a 2S pack easily.
That's $289.00 vs
$30.00 for a body
$20.00 for wheels
$10.00 for body posts
I'd rather just buy the parts and put them on a vehicle I've already got then buy a whole rig that won't get used...
'Evening, folks. And happy new year.
I'm looking for part numbers on the following components.
1) Orange Dakar "Hummer" body.
2) Black/Orange front/rear wheels, with or without tires...
