Castle Creations Sidewinder can be gotten cheap on ebay and will run brushed and brushless motors. Plug and play easy. I am a biased die hard fan of Castle Creations.
Traxxas ultra shocks are great but you need aluminum shock caps. That will solve the problem with the caps blowing off. If you're set on replacing the aluminum big bores from traxxas are great, also....
I'm not sure how the Rok Loks perform on the rocks but they definitely kick ***** in the mud.
Sounds like a great time to upgrade to a Dewalt motor. They put out so much torque more than the 775, are rebuildable, and cheaper than the 775 paperweight.
