Shiny MERV and an interesting build. :woot:
Nice speeds you get there. I image the roll cage helps a lot keeping the car on the ground and the motor cool.
How do you measure the speed, GPS?
CC SV2 + 1406 4600/5700KV seem to be popular choices on this board, if you really want to go bigblock.
You'll need Traxxas parts:
Motor mount TRA7360
Motor plate TRA7380
Gear cover TRA7379R
The HPI FLUX VEKTOR 4000Kv motor ist made by Castle. According to a Castle rep it's quite similar to the NEUCastle 1410 1Y 3800KV, but made with a little lower quality materials (thicker rotor...
Nice find, this ARC motor used to run for about tripple that price last time i checked.
Maybe they are discontinued now? Their main US importer seems to be gone out of business, website down.
The GPM shocks are absolutely horrible. Too long shafts and soft bodies with poor o-rings, very leaky.
Really a poorly executed product from my exp.
The Exoteks are sadly long discontinued. Last...
When you take off the front and center skid plates you can inspect the the driveshafts. Both are connected to the transmission and one differential.
Each of this connection joints is secured by some...
I would agree that probably 90% of lipo problems a simply user errors. Too low LVC on the ESC, deep discharged, unbalanced cells, poblematic solder jobs then trying to charge it up, you name it.
Lower amperage usually comes with better efficiency. Less heat, less strain and battery drain=longer runtime.
Lower KV/rpm also bears less stress for the bearings and glue that keeps the magnets on...
Judging from the sound it could also come from a backed off grub screw on the front or rear center driveshaft, rubbing the chassis.
Take of the front and center skid plates and have a look.
I'm not sure how the bushing trick on Axials actually works?
HPI uses this design on all their 2.2 wheels:
Yep, HPI Scorch 2.2 will fit. :)
They come with an adapter assortment and washers. The smallest inner adapter will fit the diameter of 1/16 Traxxas axles
My fault i mixed the Tekin RS2 with RX2 (1/8 scale esc) .. -_-
RS2 should fit. But the motor limit would worry me, per Tekin website:
Motor Limit Brushless Mode 2S: 8.5 Turn 2-pole 36mm, 4lb...
Thank you! These tires look even better from the front. ^_^
Looks like the Axial rims provide a bit more offset than the stock Geminis, maybe 0.5"?
If you allready have a RS8 laying around why not just try to make it fit? :)
Castle says you can run the 4600KV up to 3S max -if the car weights below 4lbs. In a car >4lbs only 2S is recommended....
Ah, the dreaded CA glue on body parts.. Nail polish remover, acetone or a thin, sharp blade to the rescue.
Take your time, its 2 in the morning over here, time to catch some sleep.
Big pile of silicone crud on the chassis is usually a sure sign.
Or if your ride feels less plush, less damped then before. Ultimately you have to open them an check the oil level, they...
Yay! Please post a front shot, if possible. I would love to see the track width of this combo.
The Alias' look nice, thread seems perfect for dirt. I wonder why they are rarely seen here.
From my understanding: harder the diff oil = less power loss/more control
500K felt more direct, while still flexible than 100K (which i tested first) to me.
It's hard to describe. :) You...
 Yes, check the linked thread.
AFAIK 30-35K rpm is a good, sane rpm range for our brushless motors.
Choose your KV and battery volts to roughly match that range to keep temps and amp draw in...
Yes, the center diff will reduce top speed a little. I have never measured it, but the car feels a little slower with the center diff installed.
A center diff changes the handling a lot. You can...
Yep, i had the 1/10 Sidewinder in mind, latest iteration: http://www.castlecreations.com/products/sidewinder3.html
You'll need to get a bit creative and fab up a bracket of some sort to mount it...
RC-heatsinks are usually made out of some sort of soft alloy.
Any decent steel screw will self-cut its own threads grabbing between two fins of the heatsink.
Yep, and i still believe the SV3 minus the resin and the new encasing ist the very same stuff as the SV2. ;)
Otherwise Castle would have surely mentioned "X increase in power" on their product page,...
Yes, both brands will run with the stock (and aftermarket) motors and your Spektrum TX.
As Jimmie Neutron noticed the CC Sidewinder v2 is not made anymore and only available used or sometimes from...
I have the shorter ones and they didn't had enough threads either.
You'll need to re-tap/cut the thread deeper on all Junfac barrel nuts to get them on the MERV stub axles.
