you either want a bigger spur or smaller pinion iirc. Definately smaller pinion
just reread your post. Bad thing about running smaller pinion to save temps; is that you will lose some speed.

you would just need an extension. i tried a y harness last night and would not work; had to be disconnected from receiver.
you have to adjust your punch control and probable throttle curve. also loosen the slipper and/or run a center diff.
it would be nice to see exact settings though
I will do some searching, but the center diff already has 500k in it. I plan to try the ofna clear which is thicker and should help out better.
i am thinking of trying 30k front/10k rear to see...
i don't like the center diff; puts way too much power to the front. Even running 50k/10k as recommended by others. until i can find out how to properly set it up; its not really needed
you probably just need to recalibrate your esc. Traxxas esc's are notorious to get out of calibration.
read the manual and follow the steps to recalibrate. if its a no go, then possibly the motor,...
is this a good idea? i hate slippers...pain in the rear; just another thing to maintain or adjust all the time.

it comes with instructions. its cake to install. pull out the screws from the driveshafts and slid shafts away from tranny, unbolt 4 screws that hold the tranny; unplug motor wires and its out.

i was looking at a different jato kit. i also wasn't looking at the plastic housing, but the o-rings, washers, seal. figured there were more useful parts minus the plastic housing.

I finally got mine on Monday. seems to be top notch.
for anyone wanting new o-rings; get TRAXXAS 6884. its cheaper and better than the jato kit posted above.

sounds like you need to change your gearing, but you really need to see what your actual temps are
