How about a Yamaha Blaster? They can be had for $1500 or under and they are everywhere. They are pretty quick and light too. I got one when I was 12 and rode it till I was 16 (sold it and got a dirt...
If I thought they were ready, yes. I got my first dirt bike (Yamaha PW50) when I was 3, almost 4, no training wheels or anything like that either. But I grew up around bikes and knew to respect them...

Actually, I used the 12V motor in mine. Top speed is around 30mph I would say but its got a nice amount of torque.

My vote is for the E-Revo. You won't be disappointed. When the brushed motors go out, you can upgrade to a DeWalt drill motor for about $30. As for RPM, I can't recommend them enough. They are great...

My 2006 Yamaha Blaster Special Edition that I had. I sold it last year to get my Honda CR250R
I just use an old tissue box. It works pretty well and you can put your tools inside :D

Try and find a Kawasaki KX60. I have one from when I was younger (I ride a CR250 now) and it is a rocket ship lol They can be had for under a grand and they are pretty reliable. But if you really are...
