I love the idea behind this build and will be watching it start to finish.
I really like the way those Trenchers look on your truck. I may have to get a set for mine.
I recently swapped my brushed 1/16 Slash over to brushless using a Tacon 380L size 4600kv motor and HK 35A esc and Love it. I am running a larger set of tires from a Mini-LST, and I dont remember...
Should be able to use the same motor mount and plate you already have. Did your truck have the 380 brushed motor or the 550 size brushed motor?
Servos tend to do that when they draw more power then the ESC's BEC can put out. You may need an external BEC.
I currently have a cracked pressure plate as well. I keep cooking the aluminum slipper pads. On 6s they just will not hold up tp the power. I always crank my slipper nut down as tight as I can get it...
The tires look identical to mine. They are Knock-off Bow Ties. They are usually purchased from china shops pre-mounted to 40 series racing dish wheels. Check the truggy tires and wheels on asiatees,...
Man I cant remember how many chassis I have broken in that same spot. Mostly doing back-flips off the big jumps at the track. I am also like you, I like to have a weak point. Plastic shafts save the...
here is my write-up on how to make your awesome new light set turn on and off using your 3-channel radio.
Here is a list of parts I used to make this all happen. (Links to BSHRC when available)
Trust me, I know how difficult it can be to find a body thats the proper length. I bought 2 bodies that were "Maxx Size" that were too short for the new long chassis trucks. I made them work, but it...
The 7173 fits the older short maxx chassis. It is 16" long.
The proper length for new Maxx chassis is 19.5"
HPI 7178 will fit just fine as it is 19.3"
That body is too short. It is stadium truck length.
The rotor will be out of balance now, but no major worries as long as the bearings are still good. If it causes a problem you could always re-balance the rotor.
I had an issue with mine going full throttle at random when applying the brakes. Caused a broken chassis and a set of bulks.
I would advise going 2.4 before the brushless. The brushless system will give MUCH more interference with 27AM radios. I speak from experiance.
Also had the same experience this weekend. Then another racer directed me to the back of the package. LOL
Yeah, but you have to get the old bearing out of the endbell before you can put a new one in.
They basically made it like the MMM esc mount for the ERBE and EMBE so that it holds the ESC and switch. I like it.
Afol, you havent got the bug yet. My list so far:
Starting with the smallest...
Im not finding anything online. I have had a bearing go bad in mine as well and had to beat the outer race out with a punch and hammer.
Chased the dogs, a couple cars, and my nephews with it. ****
According to the online manual and such, these are the ones you need.
Also could be bad motors. Check the speed control with a different motor if possible.
Aluminum skid plates deffinately strengthen the truck without too much cost.
The problem seems to be where the center chassis mount is for the cage. It is where the ESC mounts to the chassis, so the ESC has to be moved.
I live in north Georgia and I have been running the Castle Creations CC Blower. After running my truck for an hour Saturday in the warm sun with 18/62 gearing the motor was still cold.
