I hope that's not a part prone to breakage because I don't feel like taking the trans out all the time to fix that little thing. Even when the truck wasn't even bash at all....
Hopefully it was...
It's part number M3/12 #4995 in the transmission exploded view.
It's a grub-screw type thing. A little hex headed screw with a little bit of thread at the top then a smooth shaft...
My brother took apart the transmission and found no gears stripped at all.
I don't know what i'm looking for but all the big white gears were fine.
Um...I could spin the brake disc...
What about the throttle brake servo? will that need to be removed?
Ok so the brake disc on my 3.3 is pretty bent and it causing me problems with it rolling, so I need to take it out.
How would I go about doing this? It it something major or can I just take apart...
Yes, with the motor running if you hit the gas the spur gear does spin.
What would make the screw just shear like that? The truck was barely driven around, at least not what I'd call "bashing"...
He did try and climb a mud hill and it made it about half way up and then just sat there spinning tires.
No reverse donuts.
He's had the truck for about a month, in that time it hasn't even got a gallon through it. It's pretty darn new and the gear looks darn new also.
I can spin the gear and the clutch bell spins...
well you can push it and it rolls just fine. The tire lockup thing was only for a second or two. That's why I didn't think it was that important.
Ok so I have a new problem with my brother's 2.5 t-maxx.
He was driving it along one day and he tells me that one of the tires sort of locked up for a second then his truck stopped moving and now...
So what exactly did you do to fix it? I'm not sure if mine's the tranny or something in the rest of the drivetrain.
This is EXACTLY what my 3.3 is doing right now only it's all stock with a FOC.
I know what you mean about the pivot ball "butts". I already had those too tight and noticed so I loosened them to the point where the move freely.
So a while back my 2.5 t-maxx clipped the tire of a jeep at around 30MPH and broke almost everything on the right front side. I replaced the shocks, A-arms, and right front bulkhead.
Now it's all...
It's just got the stock 3.3 t-maxx braking system.
I don't know if I should hope it's the transmission or not lol.
The brake disc does look slightly bent and the brake shoes are pretty close...
So the transmission can be taken out in the method that RCOVERBOARD described without touching the engine?
Can I take out the grub screw with the included traxxas tools? It's probably a small screw, like 1mm hex right?
bump - For clarification.
What do you mean by mark my servo horns? How do I take the drive shafts off?
I need a little more detail but thank you for the reply :)
*sigh* alright, I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull the trans. I guess if it comes down to it that's what I'm going to have to do.
I'm hoping it's bearings though :/
Is there a guide or an...
bump - anyone else? This problem is frustrating.
The previous owner said "It worked just fine for me when I sent it, there was no binding whatsoever..."
So, I don't know what's going on.
Any other ideas?
Each wheel does spin by itself just fine.
The FOC was fitted by the previous owner and he was no newbie at R/C's. The 3.3 was his 5th and he knew what he was talking about.
Ok so as some of you might know I got a used t-maxx 3.3 from a member here. I bought a new hi-torque steering servo for it and a new set of wheels and tires is on the way.
The main problem I'm...
