+1 I mostly run 2s on stock 2 pole vxl with stampede wheels and tires with slipper tight but not locked and stripped the 12mm hexes

I've had the same problem but I lost both forward and reverse just disconnected the motor/esc wires then reconnected them again and has been ok ever since.
Ha ha you've probably jinxed yourself now. Do you use the blue aluminum serrated wheel nuts?

It sounds like my problem is loose wheel nuts I have the blue aluminum ones with the serated edge and tighten them up pretty tight but the rear ones always come loose...
