Clicking in front end
It seems that I have a clicking in the end. If I do a sharp turn on packed dirt, the inside front tire spins, well when it does that there is a clicking coming from I think the diff. Sounds like a gear is clicking. I don't remember hearing this ever before, but I don't want to tear down the front diff if I don't have to. Any imput would be nice, thank you.
The only way to really check is to tear it down.
More than likely, if the servos and the axles are in good order, it is the diff.
Check to make sure its not the front driveline stripped out. It's happened to me twice now and I swore it was diff and it wasnt. I found out the only way to test is a bad way but it works.
Lock the diffs, grab both front tires pull the trigger ever so slightly and don't let the tires spin and listen for the noise and watch the driveline. If it is then the tires won't spin and only half the drive line will.

Same happened to me and i wrecked the ring gear trying to get the bearing off:$#!!:
I actually bought a new ring gear and put everything back to gether thinking it may have just been a bearing or something.
I was wrong...
Pulled it apart again an the female piece of the front driveshaft had a crack in it.
IMO i don't think it would be the diff coz they are pretty tuff. but yeah i would definitely check the driveshaft THOROUGHLY coz you can't see a crack when it isn't under load.
If it is the drive shaft... upgrade to the steel driveshafts part #5650R
They may be tough, but here is a picture of "diff mush" for you:
Or should i say pretty tuff most of the time...
Lol. I've gone threw a couple spider gears but never a ring gear. And the only reason why I broke the spiders is that I was trying to push the couch across the living room.
As for the drivelines I've never cracked one I've only stripped and twisted them
Now that is wicked!
Did you have it framed?

I actually have is sitting above the tv on the entertainment center. The even better part is that both those in that pic happened at the same time in the ol lady summit when she was driving it last week.
I'm actually purdy proud of her on that on. We went to the local hobby shop (1 hour 1 way) and we walked in and I went to go look at things she went to the counter told them a part number and paid for it before I even made it down a isle. They wanted her to fill out a application.
I tore down the diff tonight and found the problem. The cap that hold the two little gears inside the diff was cracked in two and one of those gears looks pretty bad.

Little gears = Differential gear set, p/n 5382X.
Time to fix or hit eBay for a take-off diff.
Edit: when did diffs on eBay get so expensive?!?
