My slash completed 5 heats at the track and got me a win for the class.
converting it to a car

Dismounted all of it, dyed the chasis in black, ordered protrac kit, frant and rear aluminum shock towers, 4 tekno's cvd, XO-1 c-hubs carriers knucles, pro-line body post.
Maybe im going to make a build post later, if there is some interest.
I broke it! Jumping a patio with chairs, fire ring, and the 2x6 border as obstacles. Also launching off a 2' wide wooden thrown together ramp. Shock came loose from the cap and lost the bladder. Was going to tephlon tape it till I got a bladder but ended up kicking the shock cap into the lake.....parts are ordered.

Ive never seen a a arm disinigrate like that. And are those wheels and tires from suprasales if so how long did they last you? Thanks
Ran the stock system on 3s and tried to avoid flipping over. As a consequence, I hit my foot at full speed.

...but nothing broke.
Burned the ESC
Not that its a really good thing, but this is an awesome shot, regardless of the outcome! Thanks for posting that!
New oil in all four shocks after I blew a cap and lost parts. Found you can't overfill with oil or the cap will pop off with little pressure on the shock
Bought a new 3S battery, slipper clutch and am changing out the shock oil to 60W at the moment.
Nothing today but I dogged it out yesterday at the bmx track!!!!!
getting the lcg build together
Crashes into a brick enclosed mailbox using a 3S lipo and broke my right, front A-arm.
I just ordered a new Slash 4x4 LCG Platinum! Can't wait! :)
finished my lcg build will post pic's and info of it later as I am getting ready to do a build for my brother waiting on front and rear diffs. nothing special just something he will have fun with when we hook up. will post pics later on that too as I have just rebuilt my computer hard drive took a ride on the wild side.
car ran away while at the track today. full speed into a wall. remarkably this is really the only damage. only other issue is warped screw holes for the front bumper.
Looks as though you might be in need of a chassis brace. I think a brace may have prevented that damage.
my pinion loosened up and damaged da spur gear a lil bit.
how can i make sure the pinion doesnt break loose again? use loctite?

blue Loctite or I use CA glue
Changed out the 50 weight in the shocks to 37.5 weight; and then found I have a bent shock shaft...
"To the hobby store!!"
Today i installed a full led light kit in my shell. Then I installed a new RPM bumper and light canister set. Then I wired in 4 LED's that arent included with the RPM KIT. Drilled out the RPM Light canisters for larger 5mm LED's
The 10 LEDs in the body can be turned off an on via a switch in the body, and the light bar is always on, but can be easily unplugged via the wiring harness..
a few new parts for the sl4sh today
with a bunch more on the way. :woot:
Today, i went out for my first bash session of the spring! But I forgot to check the bearings...:(( After maybe 10 minutes of real fun, the truck started to sound pretty wierd. I tought it was a rock caught somewhere, but in fact, it was the rear pinion bearing that just exploded, and then, the slipper bearing and the spur bearing wnt on me... So i let you imagine what will i do tonight!!!
Have Fun with your SLASH!!!
Was bashing with a friend and the rotor of the VXL motor broke so now I am out till the new castle sct comes in the mail.
Got battery extension kits for my LCG ultimate and regular slash 4x4. Will install them tonight or tomorrow. Changing to lipo batteries and keeping nimh ones as back ups
I had issues changing my diff fluids the first time I did it as well. I was using the stock chassis so I had step by step instructions. Im use AE diff fluids..10k in front / 60 wt Center / 7 rear..You gottta just experiment with different weights until you find one that dials into the track and fits your driving style..Heres some technical info from another forum
EFFECTS OF DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT
DIFF OIL THICKNESS CHARACTERISTICS
Increases steering into corners (off-power)
If oil is too thin the steering may become inconsistent,
especially it can lose forward traction (and steering) during acceleration out of corners
Increases stability into corners during braking
Increases steering on-power at corner exit
Front wheels unload more during acceleration
Decreases on-power steering (reduces oversteer)
Easier to drive on rough tracks
If a high-power engine is used you could waste too much power and sometime cook the oil in the center differential because it overloads
More off-power steering
More all-wheel drive effect
Increases on-power steering (reduces understeer)
Better suited on high-bite, smooth tracks
Car can be more nervous to drive especially if a high power engine is used - you might need to be smooth on the throttle
Increases cornering traction
Increases steering into corner
Decreases rear traction while cornering
Thanks, good info
Nice wheels and tires. What are they. What's the size of them and will they fit on stock slash 4x4.
Ok so I actually did this on Sunday. Added all of the blue RPM parts, Proline body mounts, F/R sway bars and new rims/tires. I finished painting my first body yesterday... its not great by any means but I learned alot. I will post a pic once i get all of the stickers on. Sorry if the pic is too large
Nice rims and tires. What's the size of them. Will they fit on the stock slash 4x4
Installed the aluminum adaptor on the slipper clutch and put on the sway bar kit for my slash 4x4. Also got the traxxas blue aluminum motor mount which I'll install a little later, lol!, I should a put the motor mount in when I did the aluminum adaptor but forgot and went on to install the sway bars, haha!!, oh well maybe later tonight or tomorrow. I also got a new clear traxxas body and I'm thinking of what color(s) to do, maybe bright green and black but not sure yet. I could use orange and white since I have those colors but we'll see. Heading to hobby shop on Sunday to check out some colors.
I have painted my new Ford Raptor body!
Nice paint job on the raptor
Nice paint job on the raptor
Thank you ! I love this body!
I like the silver and blue color combo as well.... One of my favorites!
Woke it up from its long winter nap.Went out and ran a pack through it to test out the goodies I added to it this winter.Fun stuff!!!
I ran mine at a baseball park with the stock tires on 2s then 3s and then with my 2.8 trenchers on 2s then 3s.
Put in my traxxas blue anodized motor mount. Installed easy and looks nice. Charging up 2s lipo and will see how well it works out after a few runs.
Got a few parts in today but wont get the E revo diff cups and I bar gear setups till Wednesday.
Got some strc shock body's! They have threaded shock body's too!
Finally installed the red strc shock towers on the scalpel.
Got me a set of black proline wheels and medium compound trencher tires. Tires are a little taller than the stock traxxas ones, about 1/2 inch taller so I hope they work out and fit the slash good. Looks like they may rub the body when jumping or bumpy rough surface. They look really nice though, can't wait to try em out, just waiting for glue to cure before using them
