- Running in confined spaces, on grass, or in other conditions that cause the power system to work harder
- Running on extremely hot days
Locate the accessory bag containing the 20-tooth pinion gear inside your box. Remove the gear and the set screw from the bag and set them aside on your workbench.
Remove the body clips and lift the body off the chassis. Unlatch the battery bar and flip it over to the opposite side of the chassis to clear the workspace around the gear cover.
Remove the four screws securing the gear cover to the chassis. Lift the gear cover straight up; the motor is attached to this cover and will come out as a single unit.
Loosen the set screw on the factory-installed pinion gear. Slide the gear off the motor shaft.
Because the 20-tooth gear size is different, the motor position must be adjusted to ensure the gears touch correctly. Locate the two screws holding the motor to the gear cover. Remove them and reposition them into the holes marked position "F". (Reference the chart in your Owner's Manual or the on-screen diagram in the video for visual confirmation).
Slide the 20-tooth pinion onto the motor shaft. Insert the set screw and tighten it, ensuring you have matched the spacing distance from the end of the motor shaft. .
Place the motor and gear cover assembly back onto the chassis. With the assembly loosely in place, roll the chassis back and forth with the wheels on the ground. Apply light pressure to the gear cover until you feel the gears connect (mesh) properly.
Once the gears are meshed, reinstall the four screws to secure the gear cover to the chassis. Clip the battery bar back into place and re-attach the body.
