Traxxas Takes Two Wins, Three Podiums
It literally rained on the annual pre-race Main Street parade, but the precipitation did little to damp the enthusiasm of Crandon’s die-hard racing fans as the TORC series returned to The Big House for Rounds 9 & 10, plus a make-up day for the rained out Brush Run back in June. Today’s action put points on the board for the Round 4 washout, and Traxxas drivers made three trips to the box. Andrew Caddell (left) and Jeff Kincaid (right) took the Traxxas Pro Light and Pro 2WD wins respectively, and CJ Greaves (lower left) scored second place in Super Buggy behind rival Larry Job. Caddell and Kincaid both won their races wire-to-wire, with Kincaid getting the holeshot from fourth position in the land-rush start and Caddell making an impressive launch from sixth position directly into first. In addition to competing for valuable championship points, the drivers in Friday’s Pro 2WD race were racing for the Chairman’s Cup. Kincaid also won the cup last year when it was dubbed the Crandon Cup, placing him in an exclusive club of back-to-back cup winners.
Although a podium finish eluded him when damage took his truck out of the race, Traxxas’ Mark Jenkins made an impressive showing in Pro 4X4. Jenkins put his no. 25 machine in third place behind front runners Adrien Cenni and Johnny Greaves, while Pro 4X4 points leader Rick Johnson mounted an all-out assault in fourth place. From turn to turn, Mark outmaneuvered Johnson in a skillful display of driving that looked certain to land Mark on the podium until contact with Scott Douglas damaged his truck’s suspension and ended his race day. The action is sure to be exciting tomorrow!
