TORC Round 11: Andrew Caddell Takes
the Championship!

There are still two more rounds of TORC Pro racing to go, but for those who compete with Traxxas driver Andrew Caddell, two rounds would not be enough to put them at the top of the Pro Light leaderboard, even with back-to-back wins. And so, even though TORC Round 11 did not see Andrew Caddell on the podium (he exited the race early due to suspension damage), “Ace” locked down the 2011 Traxxas Pro Light championship as the checkers came out. Caddell’s season stats include four wins, ten podium finishes, and five “Maxx Lap” fastest-lap awards in 11 starts for a total of 235 points and an unbeatable 85-point advantage over Casey Currie and Brad Lovell, both with 150 points. Fellow Traxxas drivers Keegan Kincaid and CJ Greaves shined during the race, but only Keegan would make the podium (his first in Pro Light), joining winner RJ Anderson and Mopar/RAM driver Samuel Hubinette in third. CJ Greaves lead Pro Light and battled with Anderson until the penultimate lap when Greaves clipped a tractor tire on the inside of turn four and rolled his truck—bad for his results, but exciting for the live SPEED cameras.

Jeff Kincaid Podiums Pro 2WD in Photo Finish
Eventual race winner Bryce Menzies moved into the lead early in Round 11’s Pro 2WD race, with Traxxas’ Jeff Kincaid holding firm in second and NASCAR driver Brendan Gaughan in third. Gaughan was far from safe, however, as Chad Hord was fast on the Chicagoland track, and after Wednesday’s race-ending roll, Hord was hungry for the podium. By the mid-race yellow, Hord moved into third and whittled down the gap to Kincaid. In the final turn of the final lap, Hord poured it all into the track and went door-to-door to the checkers with the no. 4 Traxxas machine—but it would not be enough. Kincaid held onto second with an advantage of mere feet!

Mike Jenkins Fast in Pro 4X4
The Jenkins brothers were fast in their Traxxas Pro 4X4s, but race damage took both trucks off the track before the finish. Mark Jenkins overtook Mike for the lead at the start, and by the time the field was through turn four, Johnny Greaves was leading with Mike Jenkins, RJ, and Mark close behind. Mike held off Johnson through turn four, then made contact with Johnson as his Traxxas machine nearly swapped ends. Mark Jenkins was pinched off to the inside and also clipped Johnson, damaging the no. 25 Traxxas truck and effectively knocking it out of the race. Mike Jenkins kept Steve Barlow, Adrian Cenni, and Scott Douglas at bay to hold onto third behind the battling Greaves and Johnson. For the first half race, it looked like another podium finish for Mike Jenkins was assured, but after the mid-race yellow, driveshaft trouble slowed the no. 47 Traxxas Pro 4X4 and eventually took it out of the race. Douglas took over third place as Greaves and Johnson exchanged the lead, with Johnson making it stick at the checkers in a crowd-pleasing finish to an exciting round of TORC competition.

There are still two rounds of TORC racing to go! Don’t miss the excitement as TORC comes to Cycle Ranch in Floresville, Texas, October 15 & 16!
