TORC PRO 2wd Driver Rob MacCachren
Rob MacCachren resides in Las Vegas, Nevada the Mecca of off road desert racing. He is the driving force behind the family business which serves the off road community with a retail off road parts store in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. His father, Bob, and mother, Mercedes, opened the store in the late 1970’s.
For 20+ years, Rob MacCachren has served as an ambassador representing BFGoodrich Tires to both the private and public sectors involved in racing and motorsports.
In 2007, MacCachren was signed as a Rockstar Energy Drink athlete and at the beginning of the 2009 season, Rockstar Energy Drink signed on as the Title Sponsor of Rob’s short course racing program.
Rob is a high-energy racing professional that has been sought after by many teams over his racing career. He is one of only a few professionals that races both desert racing and short-course stadium racing.
In 2011, Rob MacCachren raced in SCORE and BITD, the two most premier desert racing series. He also raced in both the The Off Road Championship (TORC) and Lucas Oil Off Road Series (LOORS) short course racing series.
Short Course Off Road Racing:
All-American off-road racer Rob MacCachren of Las Vegas, Nevada debuted his short course racing program in 2009 and committed his Rockstar Energy Racing team to compete in the new Traxxas TORC Series, which was televised on both ABC and ESPN2 in 2009. Rob earned his third consecutive Pro 2 championship in 2010.
MacCachren, 46, is a four-time selection on the American Auto Racing Writers & Broadcasters Association (AARWBA) Auto Racing All-America team.
The 2012 cadre of Rob MacCachren’s marketing partners this season include Rockstar Energy Drink, Makita Power Tools, BFGoodrich Tires, TRAXXAS, IMPACT by Mastercraft Safety, KC HiLites, Fox Racing Shox, Motive Gear, Pro Am Racing Products, Racin’ Dirty, PPM - Performance Products, K&N Filters, Patton Racing Engines, and Rancho Drivetrain Engineering.
In the 2008 Championship Off Road Racing short course series, MacCachren earned two season point championships and 10 total race wins and five seconds in both the Pro2 and the Pro Buggy racing divisions. In 2009 and 2010 Rob earned a Pro 2 Championship each year within either the LOORS series or the TORC series. Since he began his short course career.
MacCachren has accumulated 192 race victories and 20 race Championships, including three prestigious Borg Warner Cup Championships in 1999, 2000 and 2001. The Borg Warner Cup Championship is held on the Labor Day holiday at Crandon International Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin. MacCachren was also victorious in The Governor’s Cup in 1995, 2000 and 2001. The traditional Governor’s Cup is held in the June at Crandon International Raceway.
After winning consecutive CORR Pro-4 class point championships in 2000 and 2001, MacCachren went onto to win class point titles in two desert series in the same year. At the conclusion of 2001, Rob MacCachren was voted to the AARWBA All-America first team for his championship efforts in off road racing. MacCachren also made the AARWBA second team in 2004, the first team again in 2005, was recognized on the honorable mention list in 2008 and was on the first team again in 2010.
In 2009, Rob MacCachren was crowned the TORC Pro 2 Champion. In 2010 he was crowned as the Lucas Oil Offroad series Pro 2 Champion, earning his third Pro 2 championship in consecutive years.
Desert Racing:
Rob MacCachren competed in the five-race SCORE Desert Series, where he has won eight season point titles in his career and has 43 class race wins. MacCachren races the No. 20 Mastercraft Racing, Rockstar Energy, BFGoodrich tire Trophy Truck in the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division.
A second-generation desert racer, MacCachren has five career race wins in the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 race alone and another five victories in the SCORE Baja 500 race. The Rockstar Energy Drink sponsored team races in the SCORE Trophy-Truck class, the marquee racing division in desert racing for 800+ horsepower, high-tech, unlimited production trucks.
MacCachren, who was voted as the 2008 SCORE Person of the Year by the SCORE membership, 2007 BFGoodrich Person of the Year, 2007 DIRTSPORTS Magazine Driver of the Year, and was the 1994 SCORE Trophy-Truck season point champion and cap it all off, he is the 2007 SCORE Trophy Truck season point champion along with winning the OVERALL longest ever SCORE Baja 1000 in 2007, at 1296-miles.
The 2007 SCORE Baja 1000 was a nonstop race in which MacCachren drove 800 plus miles over two stages of the race shared with truck owner, Mark Post. MacCachren won the Trophy Truck championship in the initial year the superstar / elite class debuted in the desert. He has seven career SCORE Trophy-Truck race wins.
In early 2009, the FORD SVT Team selected Rob MacCachren as the Driver of Record for their FORD Raptor Off Road Truck program. The Raptor was on the podium in every race for the season and MacCachren led the way for Ford Racing’s Raptor program to finish the series in second place in the race for the championship.
MacCachren raced in the 2009 Southern Nevada Off Road Enterprise series in a single-seat 1600 car and won each of the races he competed in including a solo-effort in the 400-mile SNORE MINT 400. MacCachren was only minutes off the overall winning pace and he raced in a 80 horsepower single- seat VW-powered air-cooled race car. He finished 7th overall in the underpowered outclassed racecar, a feat that still has people in disbelief. MacCachren earned the 2009 SNORE OVERALL & 1600 Championship.
As of 2012 MacCachren has 3 consecutive SCORE San Felipe wins under his belt. Winning the 2011 San Felipe 250, the 2011 San Felipe Challenge of Champions and the 2012 San Felipe 250.
