Baggett takes the overall at Southwick

Everything fell into place this past weekend for Traxxas riders. Ashley Fiolek, Blake Baggett, Tyla Rattray, and Broc Tickle each brought their A-game to the Moto-X 338 National in Southwick, Mass. Baggett earned a dramatic overall win, his fourth of the season, going 3-1 and stretching his points lead to 24 points in the 250 class. Tickle earned his second career outdoor podium finish in the 450 class. Tyla Rattray won the second moto outright on his Factory Kawasaki KX450F. But all the boys were trumped by the newest Traxxas rider, Ashley Fiolek. Fiolek was a perfect 1-1, taking the overall and putting her within 5 points of the WMX lead.

Stretching it Out

Baggett was itching for an overall win after finishing third at the previous round at Washougal. He has been the 250 class points leader for the past eight weeks, but hadn’t been able to nail down an overall win since the sixth round of the series at Red Bud. With the series winding down, and a championship on the line, Baggett knew he had to stretch his 11-point lead out a bit more to fend off a stacked group of hungry competitors. After finishing third in moto one, he dug deep for moto two and put on his signature charge to make a late-race pass for the win. Baggett’s Southwick win marks his fourth overall win of the season, and he is now leading the 250 class by 24 points.

Another Podium Earned

Tickle was clearly feeling the vibe after qualifying with the fastest time of the day in the 450 class. After finishing sixth in moto one, he came back strong in moto two and navigated through the pack to finish fourth. The 6-4 finish gave him third overall, which was his second career outdoor podium finish in the 450 class. He is currently a solid fifth overall in 450 point standings.

A First First

After getting by Holeshot winner Alessi, Tyla Rattray took advantage of a rare Dungey misstep and put his factory KX450F in the lead. Rattray was able to work the lapped traffic to his advantage and hold off a final charge from Dungey to take the win. This marks his first 450 moto win.

A Perfect Weekend

The WMX class was back in action, and the championship fight there grew even tighter. Traxxas-sponsored Ashley Fiolek continued her recent run of strong rides by racing her Honda to 1-1 scores and another overall win. Congratulations Ashley and welcome to the Traxxas family!
