The fan vote remains for the Funny Car
portion of the Traxxas Nitro Shootout!

(07/03/12) The Funny Car portion of the Traxxas Nitro Shootout now has its seventh and final winnable entrant to its field. Jeff Arend joins John Force, Robert Hight, Mike Neff, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman, and Johnny Gray as the seven drivers who have won their spot in the Traxxas Nitro Shootout. Jeff defeated Traxxas’ own Courtney Force in the final round at the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 Nationals held in Joliet Illinois this past weekend. Courtney would have loved to join the Traxxas shootout with her Traxxas Funny Car first final round appearance, but it wasn’t meant to be. The good news for Courtney, and the rest of the Funny Car field for that matter, is that the eighth and final spot is to be determined by a fan vote lottery style drawing. It will take place just before the U.S. Nationals, just a few weeks from now. Any driver not already qualified in has a shot at the last spot and a chance to be crowned the Traxxas Nitro Shootout winner!

Antron Brown grabbed his second win of the 2012 season this past weekend at Route 66 Raceway defeating Steve Torrence in the final round. Since Antron already won his spot in Phoenix earlier this year, there is still one winnable spot in the Top Fuel portion of the Shootout. Remember, just like with the Funny Car category, the final driver entered into the Traxxas Shootout will be determined by a fan vote. If your driver misses the cut you can still support them by giving them your vote. The more votes each driver receives, the higher the chance that they will get pulled from the lottery drawing! As of race eleven, the Top Fuel portion of the shootout includes Spencer Massey, Antron Brown, Morgan Lucas, Steve Torrence, David Grubnic, and Tony Schumacher!

The race is on to see which driver can grab the last Shootout spot in Top Fuel. The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series moves to Norwalk Ohio this weekend, July 5th-8th for the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals. Could the last spot be crowned this week? Stay up to date on Traxxas Racing’s Twitter and Facebook for news from the event.
