TRX® 3.3 Racing Engine
Where Power Meets Technology® No other engine combines power, reliability and convenience as well as the TRX 3.3 Racing Engine. This high-performance powerplant features a precision composite slide carburetor for easy tuning and crisp throttle response, PowerTune™ blue-anodized cooling head, dyno-proven IPS crankshaft and multi-port rear exhaust. The TRX 3.3 engine is also equipped with the exclusive Traxxas EZ-Start® electric starting system that makes starting the Nitro Slash as easy as pushing a button.
EZ-Start® Electric Starting
With EZ-Start, there’s no need for starter cords, glow starters or their hassles. Instead, all you have to do is insert the EZ-Start into the starter port and push the start button. It only takes one hand! The Traxxas EZ-Start lights the glow plug and starts the engine in seconds, and exclusive Smart Start™ technology monitors critical starting functions, automatically sensing and diagnosing potential problems for troublefree engine starting every time. LEDs provide realtime status, even alerting you when a glow plug has failed.
Precision 2.4GHz Control
With the TQ 2.4GHz radio system, you just switch on and drive. There are no channels or frequencies to manage, so the focus is on having fun. The TQ’s ergonomic design is comfortable for all-day driving, and its sleek lines are enhanced by an internal antenna that is impervious to damage. To customize the Nitro Slash’s controls, the transmitter’s factory servo directions can be easily reversed through the simple programming system.
Officially Licensed BFGoodrich Tires
For track-ready style that performs, Nitro Slash is outfitted with officially-licensed BFGoodrich®* treads molded in a specially formulated S1 rubber compound rear tires and standard compount fronts to give the perfect balance of forward traction on the straights and slip-angle in the turns. The tires are supported by foam inserts and securely bonded to new, chrome wheels that have a bead-lock look just like the real deal.
Oil-Filled Ultra Shocks™
Nitro Slash's advanced oil-filled Ultra Shocks utilize X-ring technology for a perfect seal and super-smooth performance. They are fully tunable with a wide range of oils, springs, and pistons. Features include pressure bladders for air/oil separation and spring clips to precisely change the ride height and spring pre-load. They can be renewed in minutes with our inexpensive shock rebuild kits.
Large High-Volume Dual-Stage Air Filter
The Nitro Slash’s high-output TRX 3.3 engine breathes clean air through a large air filter. The dual-stage design traps large particles in the outer element, while the inner element flows clean air to the engine. The larger diameter foam elements allow greater airflow, and more air means more horsepower.
150cc Fuel Tank
More fuel means more drive time between refills, and with 150cc on board, Nitro Slash stretches every run. A pull handle makes it easy to yank the tank open for fast filling, and the tank is specially designed to maintain consistent fuel flow no matter how rough the driving conditions. The tank’s lowered sump keeps the fuel pickup submerged, and baffles prevent fuel from sloshing out of the sump.
Enclosed Receiver and Battery Boxes
The compact battery box accepts 4 AA alkaline batteries or a 5-cell rechargeable receiver pack (#3037 sold separately) and it integrates the on/off switch for convenient access. The receiver is housed in an enclosed box to protect it from dirt, debris, and fuel splashes.
High-Torque Steering and Throttle Servos
A high-speed short course truck needs powerful servos for responsive performance. The included Traxxas high-torque steering servo comes standard for enhanced steering authority and reliability.
Magnum 281™ Transmission
The Nitro Magnum 281™ single speed transmission is built Nitro Tough™ with 32 pitch gears, metal top gear and idler gear, and smooth-running, long-lasting precision ball bearings. This proven, track-tested, three-gear design is built for performance driving applications.
Adjustable Slipper Clutch
The slipper clutch on the Nitro Slash is fully adjustable to control the power output to the rear wheels for increased traction control on a wide variety of surfaces. It also protects the transmission during high-impact jump landings.
Planetary Gear Differential
The Traxxas planetary gear differential features a nylon housing for long life. It uses hardened steel internal gears for maximum strength during rigorous off-road bashing. This type of differential requires virtually no maintenance and its efficient design puts maximum tire-shredding torque to the wheels.
Nitro Slash's telescoping, universal-joint driveshafts may look familiar but they have evolved for increased strength and articulation. Traxxas U-joint driveshafts allow for maximum suspension movement resulting in longer travel and tighter turning. Extra material and design tweaks greatly increase torque handling. The shafts can even be used to upgrade Nitro Slash and other Traxxas models!
Call it a factory 'works' pipe. The pipe length and shape are dyno-tuned for the TRX 3.3 to bring out the most power over the broadest RPM range. All that means is you can nail the throttle hard at any speed and get some serious roost.

Nitro Slash rolls out of the box ready for action with a factory-finished and mounted Race Replica body and decals already applied for you, so its Ready-to-Race®. There are four officially-licensed styles to choose from: Mark Jenkins Edition (#25 Traxxas), Rob MacCacharen Edition (#21 MOPAR), Chad Hord Edition (#9 BOSS Snowplow), and Robby Gordon Edition (#7 SPEED Energy).
Realistic & Functional Front and Rear Bumpers
More than mere styling pieces, Nitro Slash’s tube-style front and rear bumpers provide crash protection while adding to the truck’s realistic looks. The bumpers are designed to flex and spring back from impacts to protect the chassis and body.
Adjustable Steel Turnbuckles
Factory fitted, heavy-duty steel turnbuckles allow camber and toe tuning. The Nitro Slash is completely adjustable right out of the box to fine tune handling agility and high-speed performance. Captured rod ends provide unmatched durability and they simply won't pop off.
