You can also use 10% nitro. I've used it in my truck and it works fine

well welcome to the boards, and we'll help you all we can. If you've never ever messed with Nitro, either go electric or be very prepared to learn a lot ..there are so many little things to tweak these engines. Don't be afraid of them, just realize there is some maintenance that is required. You'll do fine.

If you know nothing about nitro you should get an E-Maxx

But nitro is not all to hard so you could get a T and just get help from your lhs with tuning

Okay it sounds to me as if you're interested in racing, so get an electric rustler. With only about 100 bux in upgrades you can have a racing machine. Check out the rustler-bandit forum for some awesome tips and suggestions, that's where i hang out all the time. FOr the same price you could probably have an srt if you find one, but everybody knows those are proven racers. You'll really drop some jaws when you whoop everybody with a rustler

Do not run 30% fuel in the T-Maxx....not recommended...Stay with a fuel that is 10 to 20% nitro and has a castor/synthetic oil blend of 12 to 18%.

As far as a beginner vehicle, you may want to check out the Nitro Sport, or any of our Electric Vehicles!

    Good luck!!

DONT mess with eletric it stinks. my very first R/C was a nitro sport & a T-Maxx they are just fine for a beginner that what traxxas is all about DO NOT try to start with a LOSI XXXNT then you will hate the whole hobby! not a good starter! and if you want electric stick with radio shack! its just the same I bought a elec rustler and turned around and sold it the next day I hated it, it was a waste of money POS! you at least get 6 or 7 mins of run time with radio shack! not 2!

    GO NITRO!!!!!!

unholy, start saving for a Nitro Stampede. It's by far IMO the most easy to maintain and fun R/C Traxxas makes.

Hmmm. Lets see. You probally were running a 9-15T motor with the stock rustler gearig, and a sucky 1500 mAh battery. Why dont you try to help this guy and save him the trouble of getting a nitro and wanting to drive. Not having to tune the engine after almost every 4 or 5 runs. Dont tell him to stick with RS they are the most suckiest RC company out their. A ruster or a stampede would be great for you. I say that you should start with a rustler if you wana become a serious off road racer. Get some hop ups like a new motor, ESC (electronic speed control), Ball Bearings, RPM Wide Front Bumper, New Servo, propper gearing for that motor, and you will be on the road. Also if you want to become a race I can suggest an E-maxx to you. I have a stampede and an E-maxx and the E-maxx kicks the stampedes but! Well, maybe it's because my stampede is stock, just to let you know the stampede goes 18 MPH stock with no hop ups on it, the rustler might go around 19-20 with no hop ups on it depending on if your on what type of terrain your running. And the E-maxx has two gears that you can shift into with the remote, in first gear it goes around 22 MPH, but in second gear it goes around 28 MPH. The E-maxx has double of everything which means it has double motors, double batteries, double pinion gears, and much more. I would not reccomend this truck if you are on a tigh budget since the parts cost a little bit more than stampede or rustler stock parts. I would not suggest the rustler if you are planning on going off road. The rustler is basically a truck for racing. The stampede is around 4 inches off the ground when the Rustler is maybe an inch or two off of the ground. The rustler will definantly get stuck on rocks and other objects while the Stampede and E-maxx will climb right over them. The E-maxx has 8 oil filled shocks so I bet you can imagine how this thing climbs. I hope I didnt write to much. If you want to see how much some of this stuff is in comparisson to your LHS you can go to www.towerhobbies.com and check out their prices. But I wouldnt become acustomed from ordering from tower when you have a good hobby shop write their, of course if they are charging insane prices on stock parts and so on.

I really, really disagree. First of all if you get 2 minutes of runtime and you truck is like radioshack then you probably adjusted the gear mesh too high, ah heck i donno there are a million things that can go wrong to have something like that happen to you car, but if its a nitro then its a million and one. Look dud go electric you first rc would be way better that way trust me. Just take a trip to the rustler-bandit froum and ask some people. Electric is really fun too. There is this guy in there, frankied, who is running theese 5 inch tires and cant get on the throttle hard or the truck will wheelie onto its can... That is a lot of fun.

With nitro, eeh, trust me i know this guy who has a tmaxx, and true it will go for awhile on a tank, that is, once it gets running and warmed up and geared correctly, and the idle set, and the fuel filtered, and the carb adjusted, and the exhaust re-zip-tied, and the goo cleaned off the chassis and the reciverput in a bag to prevent electronics roasting and some ointment on your finger to help the burns, and some tape to cover the hole you melted in the body when you put it on wrong.... man itx alot of tuning. Try an electric for your first car. Then move up to nitro......

GO here. www.nitroreview.com It shows you everything and which car is better for the price. You can compare engines, kits, and pipes. It's a very usefull site. I think this will answer your questions.

well I say this if you dont want to have to clean your rig, your in the wrong hobby for starters! and you guys said somethign about a py 1500 mah bat, well most people dont want to spend $100 bucks for a stupid battery! heck buy the time you bought your truck, a 3000mah bat, & a good charger youve done spent more than a nitro! where as a nitro you get a Radio Shack $7 dollar bat and $20 dollar charger and $15 bones on fuel your still about the same price wise!

I guess it all just depends on what you want bolth have their ups & downs personally I like to hear my truck, then the smell of the fuel, and that awesome smoke! its to much for me to pass

but if u spent the same amount of money on the electric w/ battery and charger as a nitro w/ battery, charger, and gas, the electric is gonna run longer cuz u can just recharge the battery, whereas with the nitro, once ur outta gas, u gotta buy more. i have an electric and by the look of it, its a lot easier. you dont have to tune anything, unless u wanna race, but for a beginner u dont have to worry about that until u get comfortable with the car. if u get a nitro you spend hours tuning it just to get it to run.

yeah i agree radio shack is more suitable for a little kid thats not old enough to have a car you need to maintain. A radioshack cant go fast enough to break anything anyway, theyre practically maintanance free, and so is the motor, if you can get to it...

you guys are really not into a "R/C" hobby if you cant maintain a nitro powered car. If its your hobby you show some dedication and give it a quick ten minute clean after every run. There is only two reasons to get an electric: you get to be lazy, and they cost less. Just get a NITRO.... lol watch the video on the traxxas website for the electric rustler, then go watch the video for the nitro rustler..... hmmmm how can anyone see the electric one as better!!! lol. the nitro goes twice the speed, and is much better for jumping racing etc. plus burning gas in your car is real cool and makes a awesome noise! the most hooked up electrics with MUCH many spent on them can barely compare to a stock nitro!

lol and you people talk about tuning engines!!!!! lol if you cant tune a nitro engine i feel bad for you, cause it is very easy and quick.

No doubt about it, NITRO is the way.

I agree with rustler2002 I had an electric before i got into and i liked it but i hated chargeing and i bought a really good battery and all that stuff but than i got a nitro and ill neaver go back the runtime is so much better and i have learned a lot about a 2-stroke engine and how engines work and the tuneing is not that hard and its not like you are doing it every two mins its and if this is a hobby you really want to do than you got to take some time at the end of the day to do some mantance

if u want a nitro, my friend is sellin a nitro sport. contact me at xxskatebmx707xx@aol.com

i went from electric to nitro. nitro is easier than i thought, but there is more chance of error. also a lot more maintenence involved, but still a hella more fun than electric
