    Need extended driveshafts.

Ok so I am running the KD Extended track width kit on my Summit with 40 series Rock Crushers.

It works great. But the stock shafts are to short. I did the mod where you cut up 2 shafts to make one longer one. They fit nicely. But there not vary strong now. And today I had one skip a few splines when I got stuck in some rocks.

Looking for something that will work better with the KD kit.

Sent an Email to MIP but have not herd back from them yet.

    Thanks!

How did you make your shafts ? Did you use 2 outer shafts and 1 inner shaft to make one extended axle or did you use 2 inner and 1 outer?

You only need 1 shaft (or 1 side of the shaft) to expand. You could drill a hole through the shaft that skipped and insert a long grub screw.

If the shafts are long enough they usually dont skip. Thats how I did my main extended drive shaft

I cut the end off of the tube and inserted another male end in to it.

The male ends are all still stock length.

They work. But if you get a wheel bound up at all they fail..

And I found out one of the reasons these shafts will fail at times. Ill post a pic as soon as I can with an explanation as to why some times a shaft just fails and others its good to go.

I run the 1/5 scale motor with my extended axles and have had no issues yet. Maybe you didn't have the splines on the shafts lined up just right . The cross pins should be kept in line with each other. You can put them together wrong which will cause the splines not to inner lock and be prone to slipping.

Ill have to look and see if there lined up or not.

For now I'm going to glue the one that slipped so it will not do that again after I make sure its lined up.

Still have no been able to post pics. Internet to slow here.

don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but it may help.
will the Hot Racing CVD axles work for KD extension?

    edit:
never mind, it found that HR cvd axles got a little margin of success when pairing with kd extensions.. the shaft seems to be short and may not suffice for the extension+play when running
