    Installed the Brushless System

Finally got around to installing my Toro 1/18th brushless system and man was it a chore! had a hard time getting the mesh right. Maybe I was doing it the hard way. Anyway, here are some pics

My LHS only charged $5 to solder on the TRX connector.

Used 2-sided Velcro tape to hold down the ESC

    Here It is Installed

lol yea I took it easy on the first outing. BUT I noticed on a full throttle run it didn't have nearly as much speed as the brushed motor it came with...maybe a bigger pinion?

    Installed the Brushless System

Syrics had a 15t rc18 pinion that he used. I ordered and received it already. You can see the difference in this photo.

Kind of let loose with the Teton and its new system today and I think, if not the same, it's slightly slower than the stock motor/esc combo. My Teton also has the bad case of the clicking in the diffs so I guess this is what's slowing it down maybe??? The good thing about this setup is the temps...I was shocked at how cool this thing was every time I checked it. Just was hoping for a lil more speed. The 15tooth pinion I have on the way will help though.

Did you calibrate the ESC after installation?

    Get yourself a 3s lipo.

I didn't run my toro setup without one.

It does 35mph on the Gens Ace 1300Mah 3s I put in mine.

    oh wow!!! I see

Will try this now. I guess that's what I get for being so excited to install the system that I didn't fully read the manual. I have this exact same manual but only used it to sync the transmitter then tossed it to the side lol

wait hold on...this process is the process I used to sync the transmitter. I did this. Got excited too quick. I thought you guys were showing me another process.

All ESCs need to be calibrated to the radio transmitter used. The procedures vary, but all need full forward and full reverse to be defined.

well I "seem" to have full forward throttle. the reverse is 50% for sure because it isn't as powerful as the forward throttle.

If the ESC included calibration instructions, be sure to perform the procedure.

I did, right when I installed it. Just did it again. Same instructions as the link above from @Yinzer...same results. still has stock speed imo. would think it would be faster considering its a brushless combo. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the clicking gears. It clicks when I go on the grass with it or full throttle from dead stop.

My sons grave digger teton was clicking bad and lost performance. The front wheels were dragging the back ones.

I took apart the rear diff and it had missing teeth on the spider gears. Replaced them with new and it's running like a champ again.

I might have to do the same thing. It's my front diff though that's making the clicking sound.

this is what I need to replace right?

Yup, just reuse your metal gear that came with the truck not that plastic turd in the kit.
