Question TQi docking base for standard base

I recently purchased a new Revo 3.3 that came with telemetry and the TQi with docking base. Is it possible to purchase a standard base for my radio or do I need to buy a new Radio that comes with the standard base?

I do not intend to use the telemetry and may remove it from the Revo all together in the near future.

I only see the docking base being sold as an accessory... you may need to buy an entire standard radio and then sell your system complete with the telemetry hardware.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

You can usually find a 2-channel TQi transmitter for less than $20.
You could also use the Market Place here to request a trade.

Don't I need a 3 channel? I assume both steering servos run on one channel and the reverse uses the third?

Yes, but you are only looking to trade the base, correct?

Sorry I thought you meant to buy a 2 channel tQi to run with, now i realize you meant just to take the base off of. Thanks for the tip, ebay has some for $10-20.

I think it would have to be a 2 button 2 channel to be able to accept the dock... I am not sure if Traxxas' basic 2 channel with the single red button on top will work with a dock.

I know I'm shifting gears here but since I don't want to clutter the forum with another thread I'll ask this question here.

Do the TQ high output and TQi radios have the same range? If so I'm just going to swap in a 2218 receiver and a TQ 3-channel transmitter(2239). I much prefer the older TQ style transmitter.

    I believe so, yes.
I ran the HO TQ LINK system for quite a while... range was pretty much out of sight even for my 8th scale.

I have since started using Fly Sky radios... range for those are also pretty much out of sight.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

TQ Link High Output radios have been tested (by me) to over 800 feet.
