Cool Toro 1/18 Brushless Build Complete!

    Hey guys,

Thought you might appreciate me posting this up...

    Just finished installing my Toro 4300kv 1/18 Brushless system w/11.1v 3s Lipo & a Team Associated RC18 (15-tooth Pinion)

All I can say is *WOW*...crazy, uncontrollable, POWER...Just the way I like it!

Motor stays nice and cool with my Integy fan mod. So far everything is holding up just fine. I am only running this truck indoors on my hardwood/tile floors so it is helping the drive-shafts hold up to the power.

i was considering going brushless but worried it would be snapping the plastic driveshafts left and right so waiting till i see some upgraded ones out there.

So you know we're gonna ask how is the installation process? same as the others where you have to dremel and modify some areas?

Yeah, the only area I had to dremel to get this installed was:

Apart from that, the Team Associated Pinion, & soldering the Traxxas connector onto the esc...it went right in no problem!

    As requested!

The truck has a ridiculous amount of power. Uncontrollably as seen in this video. I did not go beyond 3/4 throttle in this video. I am waiting for Traxxas to release the aluminum drive-shafts before I run the truck outdoors. More to come...

    Mod List:
-Toro 1/18 Brushless 25Amp Esc w/Traxxas Connector soldered
    -Toro 1/18 4300Kv 4-pole Motor
    -Gens Ace 1400Mah 11.1v 3s Lipo w/Traxxas connector
-Team Associated 15t Pinion Gear (RC18)
-Custom motor mount screws from an Integy Fan
-Dremel Motor mount to allow pinion/spur mesh adjustment
    -Tires glued (both sides)
    -Integy cooling fan on Motor
-Teton 4LED Light kit purchased on Amazon

I think I might have the highest or only top speed run posted for the Traxxas Teton...

The fastest speed I could achieve on my first attempt today was 34MPH!!!!

    I made a custom mount to keep my phone strapped to the Teton today;

    RESULTS???

I will get a running video online later today once it dries up outside! As you can see above I got some mud on the underside of the body from just running on asphalt!

    As promised! Outdoor running video!

I was not able to push the truck past 1/2(50% Throttle) in the video without crashing. lol

I crashed at the end of this video and lost 2 body clips.

    Enjoy!

Its very fast. I am not attempting to wheelie the truck until the aluminum drive-shafts are released...don't want to be replacing these plastics over and over.

The truck is rolling over wayyy to easy outside so I have modified the springs to offer a much better LCG.

Should work much better for asphalt running now.

    More videos to follow!

So I just took the truck out to a smoother paved road to see if I could break my previous record of 34mph...

    35MPH! Woot!

That speed seems to be the max achievable with the 15T pinion and 4300kv motor on 3s.

Yes, but there are many apps named "Speedometer." It seems yours is from "Carlo Moretti."

Unfortunately it is not. The motor would do fine but the esc is not waterproof. Not very hard to make it waterproof though with liquid tape.

Excellent! That esc/motor is solid as a rock. No overheating or issues what-so-ever.

I actually just sold the truck as I wanted to get into a bigger truck...I ordered a Slash 4x4.

The Slash is coming this week!

I also wanted something with a huge aftermarket parts availability.

That's a shame..... Good luck with the slash. 👍

I really like the price of that combo, and 2s should be just fine with the right gearing.

That is ridiculously powerful! Cool that you could achieved good stability on asphalt, it is needed for this setup!
