Sounds like the servo fried, taking the ESC down with it.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

Sounds like u can use a stronger ESC other then the stock one. I'm not sure.

    Is that a trick question?
There is only 1 3S Traxxas LiPo that will fit.

I started smoking ESC and motors. New motor and sv3 ESC and couldn't get it work. Unplugged steering servo and ESC responded. Upgraded servo and Car is working but still trying to get radio / ESC programmed. So you ESC is toast. Once you let the smoke out, you can't put it back... and your stock servo, toast. Upgrade both and to.

LOL no it wasn't a trick question... I thought you might of had a different type of battery in mind that
you can suggest other then the traxxas one... How about that SPA battery u were talkin about... would any of them fit the stock adapter or I might have to do some modding?

so my car should be here by this weekend... I bought a 2s battery with a 380 brushless followed by a castle sv3 ESC..
motor mounts motor plates and gear covers/HARDWARE. A pair of HPI RACING WHEELS & HIGH GRIP RUBBER TIRES (hpi)
Size 2.2 with a 3mm offset. White 6 spokes with a chrome lip.
And i order a pro line rally shell with some RC changing paint ORANGE/PURPLE/RED AND A CAN OF CLEAR COAT.... I'm waiting on some more funds so I can upgrade my motor and ESC... Then I'm off to get the XO-1

I wanted to know whats a good spur for a 12T pinion? Would the stock 50T spur work?

That is a pretty small pinion, but yes... the 50t spur will work.

Keep in mind that the perfect gearing can only be figured out by you... and a thermometer.

Does the ESC have female bullets?
Do you know how to solder?
Does the ESC have a battery connector installed?

    Holes.

You may need to make up some extensions for the motor wires. The ESC probably takes 4mm male bullets (not banana plugs) and the motor will plug into 3.5mm female bullets.

Not really... well, sorta. One way will be backwards, the other forwards... if you try one way and it is backwards, switch any two.

The last link you provided says bullet, but shows banana. I would confirm that they are indeed bullets before purchasing... but that is exactly what you would need to get going.

The reason I state bullet and not banana is because of amperage capability. Banana connectors are not very good for high amperage situations do to their lack in surface area contact. Only the very outer curve of the thin strips of metal are making contact when slid into place.

No it will not... you would need the following:

    $8 Motor Plate (7380)
    $4 Gear Cover/Hardware (7379)
    $10 Motor Mount (7360)
    $10 Rx Cover (7024x)

This is a picture of the difference in Rx covers:

New style (for big block) is on top.
Unless you have an OLD 16th, you probably have the new style box.

Plus a bunch of handling improvements to counteract the much higher center of gravity of the bigger motor. Handling goes out the window when swapping in something bigger.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

I lost sight of my rally and it ended up fully submerged in an South carolina sewer drain. Ran to my shop for crowbar to pull lid, fished car out and disconnected battery. Threw it on the shelf for a couple months to dry out. Put a a battery in it and it ran fine. Rice will absorb moisture too. if you place it in a bag. I suggest lubing everything before trying though

    Did you dissassemble everything?
Most parts should just need to be cleaned.

I'd bet your receiver is probably toast and will need to be replaced.
Motor/esc and servo(if stock) are waterproof and should be fine.
As for the transmission and gears...a good cleaning and greasing and they should be ok.

I definitely fried my receiver! It don't work so I ordered a 5 channel receiver instead of the stock that comes with it.. Plus i order an additional servo plus the dual steering attachment. I don't even want to use the stock motor or the ESC so I replaced the motor with a 380 BL and the ESC with castle sv3... I'm just waiting for parts now

Using two servos is quite hard without adjustable links because they will kill each other while trying to get centered.
With great brushless comes great responsibility.

by the way... im working on a 4s setup for my rally/fiesta. I'm running the mini revo stock setup with a Castle Creation CC BEC. i seen people run 4s on that stock esc/VXL 3M. currently I'm ruining a Castle Creation Sidewinder 3 ESC it's nice but will not accept 4s to save my life.
is there any 4s set-up fans out here ???

The 3M will only do a few speed runs on 4S before frying.

There is a new ESC that came out recently... Castles Sidewinder 8th. You may want to look into that for 4S running. From the specs it sounds like a very good match to what you are wanting.

Turning on/off LVC is in here:
