    New Telly

Well I've added a Telluride to my collection and I'm pretty impressed. I haven't dared to take it outside yet because its so shiny and I know one run will ruin it, but it will have to come out soon.

What should I upgrade first? I was thinking tires because I'm not too impressed with the stock Kuhmo's but should I upgrade something else?

Thinking about doing a build on it in a little while...
And we thought toy grade RC's where cool...

The first thing I would change is the oil-light bushings to bearings and the truck will run smoother and faster.

Next would be the motor and esc and well as upgrading the drive line, then you would basically have a P4DE with small tires and a narrow track width.

    Oil-light bushings?

The first thing I up graded was the tires. I went to the 2.8 Badlands and love them, however the 12T Titan did not last long after the change so I'd start with a motor up-grade and let your driving style dictate what else you should up grade after that.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with the 2.2 badlands and an HPI 55t crawler motor.

Can the xl-5 handle a 55t motor? I really don't feel like buying a new esc.

The only bushings are in the steering rack, I don't really think you need to change them.
Many people are also happy with the stock center drive line, it's nice and quiet.

The XL-5 will handle higher turn motors no problem. I kind of miss not having drag brake though. I'd think that 55t might be a little low, 35t or somewhere close to that. (I'm happy with the traxxas 21t)

2.2s don't fit over the stock front knuckles unless you use RPM crawler wide offset.

    OK, my bad.

Just looked at the exploded views and saw that the telly has proper bearings at the wheels and not the bushings like the new brushed P4DE.

    Like I said...... MY BAD

With 2.2s you'll need wheel wideners. I use In%$#^gy junk on mine and it seams that when I'm running them I go through bearings faster then when I don't. There are better wideners out there. You just gotta look through the forums.

    +1 on the 35T.
55T will be way, way slow. But then you could gear up some to get a little of your speed back.

When I read 2.2 badlands I was thinking, 2.2" as in rock crawler type 2.2" like these,

    http://prolineracing.com/tires/badla...n-truck-tires/

    and not 2.2" x 3.0". like these.

    http://prolineracing.com/tires/badla...tires-mounted/

    But just in case....

The Telluride comes stock with 2.2 X 3.0 short course wheels like on the Slash. 10th scale SC wheels are 2.2" on the front side of the wheel and 3.0" on the back side of the wheel. The Stampede uses 2.8" wheels as stock.

I use these on my Telly.

Sorry for any confusion I might have caused.

Ok I'll probably go with those then.

I finally took it out for the first time. I'm really impressed of how it did in the snow compared to my other 2WD trucks.

I'm planning on going to the LHS soon so I'll have the parts, I feel so guilty replacing parts when the others are hardly used

I'll probably put the tires on my slash though.

Thanks! There was a perfect amount of snow where the telly could get around almost anywhere in it but we just got 6+ inches of snow so the funs over

I made an order on tower hobbies for some rc stuff but the 35t motor and 500k diff oil were both out of stock so we are going to have to wait on that. Good news is I have a gift card to my LHS which I might be going to.

Heres another short video that I thought you guys might want to see:

    Thanks danno!

Well I couldn't make it to the LHS so we are going to have to wait to get the upgrades. I'm probably going to wait on buying tires but I have a pair of 2.8 Trenchers for my p2de that I could test out on the telly, has anyone tried that? The motor is with no doubt going to be hot but I'm not going to run too much with them on.

Yes, I have tried that. I had to raise the body pretty high and I still had some rubbing. I was bashing in the snow as well. However that's when I burned up my 2nd 12t Titan. But it sure was fun while it lasted.

Ok the snow is pretty good right now so I'll make sure to post it tomorrow.

Has anyone used the Dusty Motors Shroud for the Telly? If so where did you get it besides there website? I might get one for summer so I don't get too much mud in the chasis.
