    Beadlocks

Oops I posted this in the wrong place.

I can't find 2.8s, I know spilt sixes would work. What about jumping up to some 3.8s 40 series. Would that be too much tire for the p4de?

I will have to politely disagree I have had beadlocks on Slash's over 45mph and on p2des over 45mph. I keep having people tell me they are no good but I have never had an issue with them. People use them on e-revos and such at speeds over 60+ mph. I use them on all my summits and despite all that torque they stay on while glued tires rip.

I have telemetry coming for my p4de and it is all hopped up MIPs etc. I will just take some of the 40 series beadlocks off one of my summits and run it on the p4de and see how the temps etc hold up.

I was using the pro line split six beadlocks 2.2/3.0 on 3s geared at 14/54 for racing and have had no problems with them at all. I do not run them very often anymore, but when I do I always check the screws on the ring and they haven't come loose yet. Temps for me were really good running the split six's with blockade's. They are smaller tires than trenchers and weigh about the same.

I would agree with jimbo and say the the 3.8 tires are too big for the stock system. You would burn up the motor in no time, not to mention probably some parts busted in the driveline. I have seen some peeps glue some 2.8 tires on a 3.8 wheel solely for the purpose of upgrade to 17mm hexes.

I found some helion 10 mt tires (2.2 outer/3.0 inner beads) will fit short course rims:

Here they are mounted to my 4x4 pede truggy:

The monster jam tires will also work, and are the softer compound of the 2.
You just need a set of proline sct beadlock rims and it will be fine. Unfortunately, these are the only 2 options that I have found for the sct rims.

I also agree that beadlocks are fine. I ran them with a locked slipper, with a ton of (2s) power on a super high traction, super tight carpet track for many months with no problems and never a failure or popped bead. I just put a very tiny drop of ca on the screws every time I changed out the tires every 2 weeks.

After I get telemetry on my p4de I will give the 3.8s a whirl. If it is too much, or looks stupid, I will probably go the split six/trencher route. The current tires are 2.8 trenchers pre mounted but I like to be able to tape and waterproof etc and I am really no good at gluing. I tried about 1/2 dozen times and would pop the bead on the first run every time.

Do they make 2.8 split six rims for the trenchers? Trenchers will not work with the beadlocks.
